Not awful not good

Feb 17th, 2020

On getting to the hotel they charged us city tax which we paid, however upon reading our booking later that night through it had already been covered. This is something I’m going to request a refund for. The hotel is clean and rooms ok, lacks pillows on the bed but you will find some more in the wardrobe, comfortable bed and facilities ok. The morning breakfast is limited and also given the size of hotel they don’t appear to keep it stocked, it was a bit depleted when we got down. We returned down just after 11am to check out. I think we left the room at 3 mins past 11am. From there the guy running the place seemed a bit angry and decided not to allow us to leave the bags there during the day because of this. It’s a little petty but I wasn’t going to cry over it, if it made the guy feel better then I hope his day improved from then on. He also did it to a couple who arrived down at 11:03 meaning they probably left the room just before 11. I think you should take into account that with luggage and other customers using the already slow/ old lift and how far some rooms are away from the reception it does take some time to get down even if you leave before 11am. Also your a hotel, and a small one at that with nothing much to attract people to come to it other than a room, maybe customer service is something you’d want to beat the bigger hotels on? On the face of it the hotel is a good place to stay if you are only interested in a bed as it’s comfortable and close enough to the main square of Bruges but then again that probably describes about 200 other hotels in Bruges. Given the the city tax double charge, limited breakfasts and the angry manager. I wouldn’t recommend staying for that very reason. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hilariously Petty

Feb 17th, 2020

The best thing about this hotel is by far the owner’s responses to poor reviews. On the day of checkout, we handed over our keys in the reception at 11:04am. The owner would not facilitate holding our luggage during the remainder of our stay in Bruges, we were leaving at 6pm that day. While I understand the hotel is under no obligation to do so, ‘this facility is only on offer to guests who check out on time’(11am), I found this extremely petty and clearly lacking in any understanding of how one works in the hospitality industry. As a result of this I read over the TripAdvisor reviews for this hotel and they are nothing short of hilarious. These hoteliers are extremely strict on the implementation of their rules and their interpretation of manners, education and cultures. Many of their responses are in fact quite xenophobic in nature and I was in fits of laughter in pure disbelief that any hotel would respond in such a fashion. I would not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel as although the location is quite central, Bruges is easily accessible on foot and many of the hotels are well located. This dwelling feels less like a hotel and more like a guesthouse where, although you are a paying customer, you are actually imposing on it’s owners. I eagerly await your response TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Last December, me and my sister visited Bruges and stayed at the Biskajer hotel, of which we have the worse memories because of the staff’s behavior .The last morning , during breakfast , I answered to an urgent call from Athens (Greece). While trying to talk, I had to listen to the hotel’s employee strict remarks and demanding to hang up or to go out. Just because I didn’t act quickly, he started taking away my dishes with my breakfast and cups! I run out of the room irritated so as to express my objections at the reception desk. At the same time the other employee got up to our room and threw our luggage into the corridor (scattering clothes ,cosmetics , purchases on the dirty rug ) and he prevented us from gathering our personal belongings and medicine , from the bathroom . He was like a crazy man, ready to attack to unescorted women. At the same point the other one was threating to call the police if we hadn’t left in 5 minutes (we had the right to stay for at least two hours) To make the story short, we found ourselves out in the rain with had full of different things and wondering how can cause such a violent behavior, something so simple like a telephone call !!!!! Wonderful visit

Booked online and very efficient and a welcome introduction to the wonderful city, owners are very pleasant and helpful, room was lovely, quiet and being adults only was a big, big bonus and plentiful tea and coffee downstairs to take to your room, vending machine a good touch too. Location is excellent, numerous car parks around to choose from. We really enjoyed our stay and would thoroughly recommend and we will absolutely return! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Terrible Disappointment

Dec 23rd, 2019

We arrived for our 3 night Xmas holiday stay only to be informed that our reservation was for one night, even though we had a confirmation number. There was no consideration for us and no help. Taking our luggage up in the rickety elevator, it stopped a foot between floors and we were stuck. The man at the front came up and yelled that we had broken his elevator. What rude customer service. A horrible place to stay. Could not even get a glass of ice. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
