The Rooms were fine, we loved the pool area and the sauna. The breakfast was really good, a lot of diversity. Only one person could speak english unfortunately. But over all we can recommend this beautiful place with an awesome view over the lake! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Tired and weary

Mar 22nd, 2020

We arrived at the hotel after a 4 hour road trip. We were tired and weary but not as tired and weary as the hotel. As we approached the receptionist we were screamed at to stay behind the makeshift rope about a metre distance from reception. I thought this was a queuing mechanism but the receptionist screamed that we were to stay behind the rope. This was a farce because I had to go round the rope to register but we were asked to take photos of our passports and email them to the receptionist. Our room was a "suite" on the top floor. It felt like it hadn't been upgraded in 40 years. Though booked for two nights, we checked out after one. Breakfast was just awful - what you might expect in a motel in country Australia. The Corona Virus is obviously to be taken seriously but the hotel needs to be upgraded. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location in beautiful Puerto Varas

Mar 19th, 2020

We loved Purto Veras, and this hotel was in a perfect location to enjoy it. The hotel is on the large size and caters for large parties passing through. However, this didn't seem to affect the running of the hotel and didn't bother us. The staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful. Our room was comfortable, with great views across the lake. We had drinks in the bar which were reasonably priced but ate out in restaurants in the evening. We did use the dining room for breakfasts which we thought were poor (do people really eat that many cakes for breakfast ?). However, breakfasts everywhere we stayed in Chile were poor, in our opinion. Overall, an enjoyable stay. (Three very good restaurants near by - Costumbrista, El Humedal, Casavaldes) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fantastic views, great location, but some discomfort

Mar 17th, 2020

I stayed here for two nights as part of a tour. Based on other photos I've seen, I think I was in a more "basic" room with a bit older decor, especially in the bathroom which seemed a bit small. But it was fine for me. Even for a lower-end room, the view of the water was fantastic. It was located within walking distance of a number of restaurants, shopping, and Lake Llanquihue. However the staff didn't always seem the friendliest. One person at the front desk became visibly upset that I wasn't able to tell him in Spanish what I had eaten from the room, and even more upset when I thought I owed more (not less) money for what I had eaten. I also felt I got a few stares for wearing leggings, hiking boots, and a T shirt when walking past the fancy restaurant to get to my room, and when looking around in the gift shop, as if I didn't belong there. For those reasons, I'm glad my stay was only two nights. But, I thought the hotel itself was very good. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Language Barrier

Mar 16th, 2020

We found language to be a barrier in this hotel. Few employees had a grasp on what we were trying to tell them in English. Our fault for not knowing Spanish. We really had a hard time telling the desk that we wanted a top sheet. The accommodations were lovely. Our room was a corner room and quite nice. They also don't carry much cash. I paid for a bar tab of 2700 with a 20000 peso bill. They gave me 10000 and the rest in coin. I wanted to break a 10000 down so I would have some tip money for an excursion. The clerk had to reach in his own wallet to see if he had any to give me. One thing very nice is they have an elevator on one end that takes you to lake level. The security lock on the gate to get back in is in need of repair. I had to insert my card several times to gain re-entrance. OK, so the room, dining, bar, location was great. The doormen were friendly. I imagine if I knew more Spanish that I would have enjoyed it more. Lovely place. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
