SCN2a Family Conference

Aug 5th, 2019

This hotel was chosen by our conference planning team. The staff was very courteous and helpful for our special needs families. Pleased with that. The beds were amazingly comfortable. Large screen HD TVs in the room. Location was good. Able to take the grandson a few blocks away for shady peaceful walks around the university campus which we enjoyed. Room was spacious with a large walk in closet. Wanted adjoining room with other family members. Was not available, but did get a room next door which was ok. Could hear some noises through the walls and some street noise. For the cost of the rooms, it would have been nice to have complimentary coffee in the lobby for early risers. They do have Kerugs in the rooms under tv stand. Did not care for the adjoining cafe. Very limited choices and not very friendly. Large iced tea was really small and expensive. There is a reasonable coffee shop\deli across the street on corner. Two Starbucks, three 7 11s, a Safeway and Trader Joe’s within walking distance. Be sure you go up to rooftop bar to take in the views. That was probably the highlight of this hotel stay. Thank you to the kind staff member who was manning the front desk during the early hours. Enjoyed our conversations coming and going. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice different hotel

Aug 3rd, 2019

Interesting clean Art Deco hotel 2 blocks from U Dub. Staff is very friendly and accommodating especially after flight delays and cancellations caused us to arrive 2 days late. Reasonable price. Each Graduate is different but relates to a local U. Here the lobby is decorated with several interesting collections from landscape paintings to a wall of old speakers to a collection of shell /macrame hangings on the ceiling. Guest rooms have tile floors with woven rugs, Art Deco furniture and interesting art. Keys look like old college ID’s and the do not disturb sign is a pennant that says “studying”. Area is a little down despite being 2 blocks from the U. I expect it will improve with the opening of the new light rail station next year. Several ethnic restaurants on block over. Brunello just over a mile away is great Italian TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

It was "fine"

The Graduate chain takes old hotels near colleges and renovates them with clever references to the college in the decor. We stayed at the Seattle one for a college tour. My first impression was not good. Immediately at the main entrance to the hotel are two pots with very DEAD plants in them. Not just a few brown leaves but 18 inches of totally dead plants in the middle of the planter. This is Seattle! No excuse for dead plants outside. They were so obvious that I can't believe the employees can just walk by them multiple times per day and not notice or not care. - The lobby is cute with references to University of Washington - purple floor tiles, etc. - Check-in staff were friendly. - Dark hallways reminiscent of the 70's - Our room smelled really bad and needed to be aired out. I think this is due to decades of smoking in the rooms. It was nicely decorated in a retro style and had windows to let in light. Thankfully they opened so we could air out the room. - Comforters were noisy. This sounds weird but every time someone in the other bed moved, they would make a noise. I'm not sure what they are made of but they were loud. I also thought it was strange they there were no sheets under the comforter. There was a fitted sheet on the mattress and the comforter but nothing in between. I can't really believe they wash the entire comforter after each guest stay????? TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

BEWARE! Would've had a better stay at the Motel 6.

I cannot get over how rude the staff is. The hotel was stuffy. The overhyped rooftop bar was indoor only which was majorly disspointing based on these "views" they boast. The room was not cleaned very well. I was treated like trash by the front desk attendant for ordering food to my room. OH! And I was promised multiple things by hotel staff, not ONE of which was delivered upon. There are donzens of gorgeous hotels in Seattle, some for a lot cheaper. Even paying more would be worth avoiding this catastrophic disappointment of a hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very nice boutique hotel, nice location

Jul 13th, 2019

My favorite part was the wonderful view of Mount Rainier from my room. It is close to the University of Washington, and it is easy to get to and from the hotel. The art deco style and college theme was quite fun. Breakfast at Poindexter Coffee was good too. Everyone who worked at the hotel was nice and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
