Worst Shower Ever

Jun 27th, 2020

Only stayed for one night and got a great price and the bed was small but comfy. However this place needs an update. It is an old building that is very dark and could benefit from some color accents. The bathroom was horrible and the shower was gross the shampoo bottle was totally empty I get it is complementary but come on. As someone else said this should not be in the Autograph Collection. The front of the building needs a total cleaning. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This should not be in the Autograph collection.. Horrible Experience

Jun 17th, 2020

I travel a lot for business and I typically stay at Marriott hotels to accumulate my points (I am Platinum Elite). I keep hearing about how bad the service has been with this new Bonvoy platform they run now. How its not the same as before and they keep messing with the points system and customer service has drastically declined and unfortunately I must agree. Yet, there I was still spending good money to stay at Marriott properties... Until my most recent stay at Hotel Duval in Tallahassee Florida. Previously, every time I checked into a Marriott property I was greeted politely and was thanked for whatever status level I was at the time and was almost always upgraded without asking. This time I was checked in by Jermaine and I did not receive as much as a thank you for being Platinum elite, I was not offered a welcome gift, I had to ask for my points and I was told there were no suites to upgrade me into (That’s fine, happens sometimes). I get up to my room, they had no soap for the shower, I went down to the lobby and they provided the soap (Again, no big deal it happens). I get back up to my room to take a shower and the shower does NOT work (and its dirty), no water is coming out at all. I call down to the front desk and Jermaine says he will send to up a maintenance guy to check my shower (Queue the jeopardy music) No one comes for 30 minutes, I call back downstairs and I am now told all the maintenance people are gone for the day.... By this point i am getting very irritated and was told they would send up house keeping to attempt to fix the shower! I stated that I did not want housekeeping to look at the shower as I was not sure how they would be able to help. I asked Jermaine if I could just switch rooms and get one that has a working shower (Not a suite, a regular room)... He proceeds to tell me that there are zero available rooms in the entire hotel!! This is by far been my worst experience at a Marriott property I have ever had. Hotel Duval should be ashamed to carry the Autograph collection name. Marriott used to be my go to hotel, but as of late they have been subpar at best and I have been staying at Hyatt World properties whenever possible. Much better points system and customer service is MUCH better... I too have been officially Bonvoyed, Marriott has lost another loyal customer. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointed

Jun 15th, 2020

Generally a fan of Marriotts Autography collection, but this property didn't live up to expectations. This property approach to Covid is to suspend services, no Valet, no bellman, no in-room dining, Spa closed, and Shula wasn't open the night we stayed. The hotel should have reached out to the very few guests they had pre-arrival to inform them of the limited services. One expects a higher level of cleaning during this time, we didn't experience this. The first room (a suite) was filthy and we were moved to a smaller room (rate was adjusted down). Very disappointed by this property and can't recommend it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointing

Jun 14th, 2020

I've stayed here before and the place was amazing, but this particular trip was absolutely terrible. The shower wasn't very clean, there was a roach crawling on the wall of it, there was no water pressure to even shower with, and no toilet paper. They were not doing valet parking, so everyone parked themselves. It was tough finding a parking spot every time we left and came back. I'm not a complainer at all, but this was supposed to be a nice relaxing stay after the lockdown from Covid. I complained and the staff was didn't really care. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Meh...

Jun 12th, 2020

As the parent of a FSU student, I’ve stayed in quite a few of the local hotels. None are great. The town is totally dead right now due to the pandemic closing the campus so the rate we got here was $108. There was no valet, so parking was free and in the empty attached lot. Check in was friendly and efficient. The lobby was empty. The room was worth $100 but I would have been disappointed had I paid the “going rate” during the busy times in Tallahassee. Bed was comfortable but the room was super dark and had a noisy window a/c unit. The bathroom looked like it could use an update. The light bulb flashed on and off like a strobe light and there was not enough light anywhere had I wanted to do my make up. The shower floor was made up of black pebbles and made me wonder if it was actually clean. The worst part of the room was the weird opaque sliding glass bathroom doors. It offered very, very little privacy. It would be fine if you were traveling alone but it you are traveling with others, it might be very awkward and would be a reason not to stay here! The hotel choices in Tallahassee are crappy, especially when it is move in time, game weekend, etc . Very overpriced for what you get. I would not pay up to stay here because it is just as meh as the other local choices. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
