One of our favorite hotels anywhere!

Aug 25th, 2020

We have lived, worked and traveled all over the world and have stayed in some wonderful places, but the Encanto stands out as one of our favorite hotels anywhere. It occupies a spectacular location surrounded by forest, high above Acapulco bay. The design is deceptively simple, and after countless visits, we continue to discover clever and surprising little corners and details. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is cool, tranquil and relaxing. The service provided by the whole team is highly professional and attentive, whilst remaining discrete and unobtrusive. The Manager, Enrique, always tells us we should think of the hotel as our home, and that indeed is how it feels! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Incredible architecture but not quite perfect

Feb 19th, 2020

Firstly, let me be very clear. This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in for its architectural magnificence. The construction, attention to detail with materials, quality of build, location, lighting (wow - what a sight at night!!!), pool and facilities are second to none. We build houses so know what to look for! No expense has been spared. If you want to see how drug money gets laundered, then come stay here and see how to turn illegal white powder into legal white concrete! The building is AMAZING! Secondly, the staff are fabulous. Although service is a little slow (this is Mexico after all), everyone is super helpful and very friendly. Our friends joined us for dinner one night and their 16 month old baby girl was struggling with 4 new teeth and the staff never hesitated for a moment when we asked for some ice, watermelon, cucumber and avocado to try and soothe her pain. Finally, the food is wonderful. The effort and pride that goes into every dish - whether breakfast or dinner - is apparent and, whilst portions are quite small, the prices are fairly reasonable for a hotel of this calibre. Same for the drinks - even though it's expensive by Mexican standards. So... why is it not quite perfect you ask? Well, here is a summary of what I have found so far. If improved, this place would be perfect.... (FYI - we arrived Monday 17th Feb 2020 and have 5 nights left of our 7 night stay in pool villa 506): 1. Villa Lighting - whilst it's very beautifully done and looks pretty, try doing your make-up or using the mirror in this light. It's just not practical. 2. Blinds - fantastic James Bond style electric blinds but they are NOT black out. The light comes in early every morning and that's not great for someone who is a migraine sufferer who needs darkness or for those (like me) who like a totally dark room. 3. Dangerous shower - slippery when wet! I nearly fell because the floor tiles have no grip. This was even worse once soap was added. You could really hurt yourself. 4. Bidet - no towel, no towel holder, no soap. I get the minimal contemporary style but this is just too minimal! 5. Wardrobe doors - you can't open one side unless you close the other. Looks nice but very impractical. 6. No storage for suitcases - all that lovely minimalist design and nowhere to put your suitcase?!!! I had to climb on the stool to put them on top of the high wardrobe. 7. Speaking of stool - the one in the bathroom is so low that you sit on it but then can't see into the mirror? 8. Bathroom sink - lovely and large but no place for storing your toiletries except by squeezing them in around the edge! 9. Desk / table - only big enough for 1. We both work online so had to sit in the restaurant to have a table and chairs big enough for us both. I have no idea how they would present a dinner for 2 as room service?! 10. Building works - we were not notified of this and so the drilling and grinding were NOT appreciated at all. We came here for peace and to get away from building works so this was very disappointing. 11. Pool water - a pretty effect of not being able to see the bottom etc - but completely impractical and dangerous when in the pool and you cannot see or know where the steps are. 12. Immovable sunbed - adding a couple of movable sun loungers would be far more practical or have both so that when the sun moves . you can still lay in it or choose to lay in the shade! 13. Too minimal - some contemporary art on the walls would soften the cold empty white walls. Minimal and bare are 2 very different concepts. 14. Music - more variety would be appreciated. We were already bored of the loop after just 2 days. TBH I think the architect may have been a man as missing this much detail is quite a masculine trait! I may have more to write but wanted to share this in case the management wished to discuss the above with us whilst we are here. Like I said, this place is great. But it could be perfect. Especially for the price we have paid and the peace and quiet we expected. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Most wonderful holiday in acapulco!

Feb 11th, 2020

Words cannot describe the beauty we encountered when we arrived at "Encanto" hotel which in english means "Charming". If you have an opportunity to go to this hotel, please dont skip it and dont look for others, this was worth every penny for us, and probably even more. The entire decor is all beach white and makes everything looks so clean and bright, you cant help but smile every single morning when you wake up here. I will be sure to return as soon as I can, even though its a lengthy journey, this hotel is wonderful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

You'll Reach New Levels of Relaxation

Jan 24th, 2020

We arrived at 2PM on a Saturday in January and within 2 hours every ounce of regular stress melted away. If you appreciate architecture and engineering this hotel will blow your mind. Some may say it's avant-garde, but it's designed with such careful attention to detail that it is simultaneously authentic. Down to the last hinge and bolt, it all meshes together in cohesive, gorgeous design. It is clear, that for the architect, nature was a priority, it comes first. Every natural element in the pool was built with care to preserve while highlighting its beauty. All the trees around the pool are built carefully around, leaving them deeply rooted in to the earth. We relaxed so hard that at one point I was laying on the sunbed and I actually felt like I was levitating. And I swear I had only had one mezcal at this point. The breakfast selection was phenomenal and we loved eating lunch by the pool. We also had dinner at Origen one night, I ordered the Tuna medallions - it was a phenomenal and simple dish. My boyfriend ordered the octopus and shrimp with sea bread, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Our room was impeccably clean and quiet. We only heard someone's door shut once or twice. But never heard any noise aside from that. If you can splurge on the pool villa I would go for it, it was a lovely addition to have for night swimming. If not, the main pool never got crowded. It was all heavenly. I can not recommend this hotel enough. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
