Lodgers say Hotel Gotham's quirky nature, cool amenities and luxurious style make this hotel an overall fun place to stay in downtown Manchester, England. This boutique hotel, which refers to its staff as "The Cast," has an ethos built on embracing and indulging in decadence. Accommodations here feature oversized leather tufted headboards attached to beds draped in faux fur throws and Egyptian cotton linens. Mirrors and artwork aren't attached to the wall but rather held up by brass chains and hotel guides – made to look like newspapers – or sit on accent tables resembling old-fashioned luggage (emblazoned with vintage travel stickers). Flat-screen TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, espresso machines and minibars are the norm in all rooms, though if you upgrade to a Bank Manager's Suite, you'll be treated to a gold-tinted soaking tub located in the living room. Guests say Club Brass, the Prohibition-style speakeasy rooftop lounge that comes equipped with its own telescope, is an experience to be had. Though if you're looking for something a little more low key, afternoon tea at the Honey Restaurant is a fine substitute. What the hotel does lack, though, is additional facilities. There is no gym, pool or spa on-site, but that didn't seem to bother travelers.
