What an amazing hotel! I'm quite the hotel snob - have stayed in many luxury hotels and boutique hotels and I must say this is my favorite one! It's well appointed from the lobby to the rooms. The rooms feel like you're at home, but with a luxury feel. The location is really good too! Valet was always quick and polite. We will definitely stay here again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My husbad and I travel all the time- have been on a road trip for weeks staying at 5 star hotels and coming back to the Granduca now for the 3rd time is such a delight.. This hotel has something that is rare in the hotel business- it feels like a family hotel in Portofino.. CHARM!! Everything about the hotel is wonderful- the decor, the little details that were things of the past. The food is fantastic and the staff is always incredibly helpful and sweet. And i forgot to mention- the beds are super comfortable. Larry Bundy the GM is extremely courteous and coudn't have been kinder. Margarita and Marlo at the front desk were very accommodating, and very attentive. Adrian at the restaurant is absolutely darling- as is Argentina. Congratulation Granduca for making us feel like we'vee stepped back to a world of charm and elegance. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
NOT a Five Star Hotel

I am forced to write a review for the first time in my life because of the scam this hotel is operating under. This is NOT a five star hotel. Repeat, this is not a five star hotel even though it ranks itself as such. It is more on par with Staybridge Suites. We arrived evacuating from five days of hurricane Laura recovery after living for days without power and water. After this ordeal, we were looking forward to the rest, relaxation, and overall luxury experience offered by a five-star hotel, but unfortunately, we were completely led astray. All the major rating websites including Expedia, TripAdvisor, and American Express platinum travel assured us that it is a "luxury, boutique, 5-star hotel", but I am here to tell you that this is a lie. Upon arrival, we were met with an ill-lit building with a small motel-like sign, which made it hard to find. The valet area consists of a driveway which is better suited for a small house. The lobby is without exaggeration only about 40 x 20 feet. The decor is cheap and straight out of Kirkland's or TJ Maxx. For example, there were four medieval knights armors taken from a halloween store as the centerpiece of the lobby. Overall, the whole hotel is brown and yellow with dirty carpets, molded balconies, and small elevators. Our suite, if it can be called such, had similar tasteless decor complete with a dishwasher and stove--unheard of for a luxury hotel. There was not even a mini-bar or snacks in the room. We were told that the suite slept 3-4 people, but when we asked for a cot, they charged us an extra $35 for an extremely uncomfortable, lumpy twin mattress! Furthermore, we had called them earlier to let them know that we would be arriving at 9:30 pm. We were told that they were keenly expecting us. No one ever mentioned that no food or drinks would be available for the night and that all their services close at 8 o'clock in the name of COVID-19. A "five-star hotel" with nothing to offer to eat or drink to guests arriving late i.e only 9:30! So we stayed in the hotel that night and had to order Uber Eats instead. After we made a request to cancel our reservation and called AMEX travel, the best they could offer was to let us go the next morning after a specific request from an AMEX employee. We were not refunded for the night we stayed, even though we made it clear upon arrival that we were not interested in staying at the hotel. We paid a large sum of money under the guise that this is a five star hotel with the luxury accommodations that are associated with that ranking. Look closely at the pictures online and you'll know that this entire hotel is an artifice designed to take your money. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
The staff went beyond my expectations

Probably my favorite hotel in Houston! This is a hidden gem in Uptown Galleria of Houston and I'm very happy to have discovered it. The pool area is very cozy and the cabanas are free on first come, first served basis. They have a great selection of drinks and food. We ended up getting the meat platter and pizza. It filled us up quite nicely. The staff went beyond my expectations to accommodate us. We stayed in one of the larger suites with a full kitchen. They provided us with all the cooking pans and pots. They also went out of their way to find me some butter for my meal at a late hour. I'm very thankful for that because it was an important detail of my meal. My favorite part was how peaceful it was by the pool. You can definitely have a peaceful day here with all the other respectful people. Will be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Employees not empowered...

Stayed one night at the Hotel Granduca and expect I will not stay there again. While a relatively minor issue, because of how it was handled - see that the employees are not empowered to take care of the customers. Package I booked included vouchers for breakfast ($23 per person). When looking at my bill after checkout I noticed I only had one voucher. I asked the lady at front desk about it, she said I only showed one person on the booking so I only received one voucher. Had my wife with me so thought it would be an "easy" fix. She said she could not fix, so she went and got someone from the back that might be able to help. All I got from her was the same explanation - no offer to help. Left it with the lady at the front desk saying she would call me that day after discussing with a manager. Never heard anything back. Little shocking that they would treat a customer this way over a $23 credit that was part of the package. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
