Stayed in 319. Great view of Bay Bridge.. Loved our room. They aren’t the biggest rooms but very comfortable for the night. Great robes and towels.. Had a little crazy start to the stay. No ones fault but they were very gracious and compted our parking for the night.. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Top Notch Hotel Griffon Experience

Was in SF for a medical visit. UCSF recommended The Hotel Griffon. Such a gift! The hotel itself is a treasure to the city, and during these times of the virus, all measures were taken to protect clients and staff. We loved our room, which had the most comfortable bed EVER. It is right across the street from the Piers on the Embarcadero, a beautiful place to run, walk, stroll. Staff recommended Gotts, a fantastic outdoor eating area, where all safety protocols are followed. Front desk staff were especially kind and fun, and we appreciated our valet getting our car back out when we left something in it. This is our go-to hotel in SF from now on! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Mask harassing even with medical condition and working Service Animal at my side.

The hotel staff were polite but the morning staff refused to take “no” for an answer when I tried to explain to her that I had a medical condition that prevented me from wearing a mask. As if communicating was not enough, I had my Service Animal working next to me. She insisted I put on a mask, and I insisted not. Staff need to be trained on how to deal with disabled individuals and service animals. I had grace for this individual but she proceeded to try to gather information on me as I explained. She wanted my full name and room number, which I politely declined to provide for fear of discrimination or retaliation. The smell coming from the sewer just outside the front doors were reminiscent of rotting garbage and human feces. The hotel was operating a bare minimum. Our tv did not work, the bar in the lobby was closed and other than the room, which is much smaller than your average king room, there was nothing outstanding about it. Best Water Views!

Amazing experience! Little get-away trip amid the pandemic and was pleasantly happy with my stay. The valet attendant was very nice and helpful, as we arrived earlier than check-in to do some sight-seeing, no issue with parking. All of the hotel staff were extremely nice and accomodating, even retrieved an item from our car and brought it to our room. Our room was one of the newly remodeled king suites and it was everything you would want or need for this kind of relaxing/tranquil trip. Room and facilities were very clean with all the necessary amenities provided. Loved the water view from the room! I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning sometime soon, hopefully in the same room or similar suite. Well worth the money that was spent, including valet which was fairly reasonable. Only two minor cons - no screens on windows (I know it is SF but the flies are annoying) and issue with tv/cable connecting in bedroom area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Not Worth the Price

For the price, I assumed this would be a fairly upscale hotel. However honestly the customer service was the equivalent of staying at a hostel, which is what I am used to. I thought I would spend a bit more given that it was to celebrate my 30th birthday, and I cannot say in full how disappointed I was. There was trouble with the key itself for two days, where I couldn't get into my room. And instead of offering to sort it out downstairs, I had to keep going up and down the elevator with all of my heavy bags after a long day as the key continued to not work. I had to do this four times before they finally used a master key to open my door. Also, I completely understand that due to COVID that services would be reduced, however there was absolutely no housekeeping at all, but most importantly, no notification of this was provided whether in person or in writing. In fact, in the room they had placed a card that told me to leave the card on the bed if I wanted housekeeping to change the sheets.... Incredibly misleading. No housekeeping also meant no trash removal, so the trash built up and there was no trash chute on the entire floor of the hotel for guests. I thought it important to note for anyone interested, there was no sink in the bathroom. It was located outside the bathroom across from the bed. I didn't find this helpful and figured others might want to know this information before hand. The toilet paper was also some of the flimsiest I've ever seen. They also use bath towels instead of bath sheets, again, just something you should know in advance. The towels only just covered me. The hot and cold in the shower was also wrong which led to some confusion. And last, there were gnats in the room and I could not figure out where they kept coming from. These last few things are of course minor details, but again, for this price it was absolutely not worth it in any way. I could have used that money to stay at the Grand Hyatt instead where I would have received decent service. I will never, ever stay at this hotel again. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 because at least the room was clean upon arrival. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
