Avoid purchasing a pre-paid reservation at this hotel using a third party site such as Priceline, Travelocity..etc. When you arrive at the hotel they will act like they do not see that your reservation is pre-paid, and when you bring it up to Management and Marriott Bonvoy customer service they will act like it is your fault and you will pay double. It is a beautiful hotel, just not worth paying twice for. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hmmm...not so good.

Dec 3rd, 2019

Stayed here for Thanksgiving. The hotel is beautiful and located near a bunch of fun bars in downtown. However, I was not overly impressed with this place, which is disappointing considering it was a 4 star. We stayed in one of their 4 executive suites, room 1202, and were very disappointed by the housekeeping services, but more so with the fact that we could hear the hum of the elevator all day and all night long. It seriously was very bad. I used ear plugs, headphones, and even resorted to downloading a white noise app at like 3 am, but could still hear it. It got less annoying around midnight when people stopped using it. But it picked right up at 6 am on the dot. No sleep. Horrible. Housekeeping took our towels the first night but failed to replace them. When I called down to the front desk they assured me they would be brought hour later, I couldn't wait any longer and ended up using hand towels to dry myself off....not fun. Plus, they didn't replace our coffee or change out our glasses. These are pretty basic housekeeping things....not impressed for the money we paid for a "suite." We had family in another room on the 6th floor and they noticed a moldy smell in their room. To be fair, Houston is very humid, so I can't really comment on whether this is normal or not. Their king size room was nice when we visited them. The bar closes at 11 PM, but the bartender, Elizabeth, was awesome. The breakfast is totally not worth $19, as there is a cute cafe across the street for less money. So, all in all, some good and some bad. But ultimately, if you can avoid staying in room 1202, you should enjoy your stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent Restaurant Service

Nov 25th, 2019

My wife and I enjoyed breakfast in the hotel restaurant and received excellent service from Driss and Rigo. They were attentive to our special requests and made sure we were taken care of, despite us showing up at the end of the time breakfast is served. Greatly appreciated the excellent service. not a 4 star

Nov 22nd, 2019

I've stayed at many 3 star hotels that offered better service. upon checkin we asked what are some of the restaurants around the hotel. the front desk said to look at the book in the room. The room furniture looked worn out. The tub faucet didnt work. we had to get our own luggage and take it to the room The towels are of a 2 star hotel. the robes are of some cheap material. very disappointing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very cool building, excellent staff, nice rooms but definitely an aged property

Some friends and i were in Houston for a wedding and all stayed at the Hotel ICON in downtown. Never having been to Houston, we though a downtown location with restaurants and bars would be good and we were not disappointed. On Friday night there was a ton of activity on main street with lots of bars and restaurants and people out. It was much sleepier on Sunday. The hotel itself is in an old bank and is beautiful building. The lobby area is stunning with its big safe and dramatic lights. We enjoyed the bartender as we had a drink at the bar to get started and then we went to settle into our rooms, Our room was spacious and had modern decorations, The smell reminded me of old European hotels and it took me a minute to place it as mildew, it was a pretty strong smell. The beds were firm but comfortable and the shower had amazing water pressure. Our shower did not have anything along the bottom to keep the water from flowing out so showers basically flooded our bathroom but we adjusted and made it work, the pressure and temperature were heaven. The best part of this hotel was the staff. Everyone was nice, helpful and welcoming. Every single interaction we had was positive and we really enjoyed the staff and our stay overall. If i ever had to stay in downtown Houston again, i would totally stay here! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
