I literally read all the reviews of hotels along the RiverWalk to make sure I get a clean hotel in good location. I chose Hotel Gibbs because I want space and they have an executive room (biggest) with separate seating area. Check-in was easy and the front desk was friendly. The room was big (see my photos) but as the day goes and spend more time in the unit, we started seeing the flaw on the design and reminded me of other reviewers and their complaints . Now I understand what others are saying: space is not everything because the unit is not functional at all. We cannot find a place to hang our clothes, the closet is by the door and too small. No writing or working desk, I will not recommend this unit if you plan to do some work in your laptop. On one occasion we have to bring some food back to the hotel because we don't want to wait for a table in a restaurant for an hour, when get to our room, we realized we do not have a place to eat our food inside the unit and we ended up using the stool as a table. No refrigerator, it was 97 degrees in San Antonio and we cannot even make our bottle water cold. There was no comforter in our King Size bed, I had to call the front desk at night to ask for comforter and I had to go to the front desk to get it. When I went to get the comforter, I brought the empty tissue box with me to get a replacement but was told by the front desk he will bring it up to my room - he never did. On our 2nd day my husband kept complaining about the unit because he cannot find a place to hang his clothes. The size is good but it does not have practical furniture to make the guests more comfortable - a wooden garment rack will make a huge difference. Location is perfect! Right at the corner and very easy to just return to hotel anytime of the day to drop-off your shopping items. We did not use the valet parking, we parked our rental truck to Houston Parking and walked 5 minutes to Hotel Gibbs. Breakfast is grab and go (muffin, yogurt and coffee). The morning front desk has told me that it's due to Covid-19 and my response to him was "we were in Houston and Hilton hotel is serving hot full breakfast". Will we stay here again? To me yes, I like the size of the room and as long as I'm sitting still I don't have any complaints but if you are up and about in the unit you will then realized it's lacking and my husband always reminded me to make sure we get a different hotel next time we are in San Antonio. Hello, I'd like to compliment some of your employees Sara,John and Heather for the excellent service they provided during my five day stay at Hotel Gibbs. I’m a frequent traveler for work/student purposes, often from New York to California for clinical research. I decided to visit the city of San Antonio before going to California and then back home. Sara’s warm welcome and amicable spirit allow me to feel ease at arrival from my lengthy New York trip. As she checked me in she added the Hotel Gibbs historic background and her knowledge of the city of San Antonio. I found it very thoughtful and proficient. John’s pleasant greetings were enjoyable. At checkout Heather’s kind smile and professionalism was greatly esteemed, we exchange some small talk of my crazy hometown and she offered great tips for future trips to Texas. We all have been affected by COVID, and as the world gains some type of stability and courage to travel. I must commend your staff for such a remarkable service. The attention at Hotel Gibbs was extra delightful because of your front desk agents. Such a commitment to great customer service is to be commended and value at your branch. We booked directly through Hotel Gibbs website and got a great price. When we arrived the front desk lady was so nice. She upgraded us to a corner suite that had an amazing view of the Alamo from the 8th floor. Valet was very prompt and had our vehicle ready for us in less than 10 min when we had to leave at 6:45 am. This was our second stay and highly recommend Hotel Gibbs! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We only stayed at Hotel Gibbs for one night, but have nothing but excellent things to say about the hotel and staff. The room was exactly as described, everything was nice and clean, and was ready earlier than the stated 3:00pm check in time. The staff was all friendly and helpful.
