No room, no hot shower, no feedback from management.

Dec 10th, 2019

I had booked and prepaid two separate nights at the from 7-8.12 and 8-9.12 respectively at the Indigo Kensington Hotel. The first stay was booked through Hotels.com whereas the 2nd night was a direct booking through the IHG website. Arriving at the hotel late Friday evening, I was walked from the hotel and being told there was no room available. Instead, I was offered a room at a lower category Holiday Inn and transportation to the hotel. Given the late hour, I reluctantly had to accept this. The next morning I was not provided transportation back to the Indigo. When arriving at the hotel, I had organised myself transportation, my room was still not available, I received no Spire benefits such as early check-in or the welcome amenities. To add to this I woke up finding that the hotel boiler was inoperative and no hot shower water available. While the staff was friendly and I received a refund on the previous nights stay, I not receive any apologies or compensation points from the management from the duty manager or GM were received as of now, even after explicitly asking for feedback/followup. Finally, my second-night booking as an eligible cash booking directly through IHG showed up as a non-eligible/non-point credit on my account. In summary, on a fully prepaid stay, I find myself with: no room, no hot shower, no welcome amenities, no stay credit/points and not even a reply from the hotel GM. Honestly not the treatment I would have expected either from IHG or any hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pleasant room but chilly bathroom

Dec 6th, 2019

Smallish hotel in busy Earls court. Room at the back was quiet and room adequate. The bathroom was very cold - the window was wide open and it was near freezing outside, Even with shutting the window it never warmed up as no heating in the bathroom. I complained on check out only to be told that no bathrooms were heated! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The most uncomfortable bed ever!

Dec 4th, 2019

We have stayed in Hotel Indigos previously and have not usually had much complaint, indeed such is my level of research before we stay anywhere it is highly unusual for me to give anything other than positive reviews but this hotel is going to be the exception. Although an IHG member I refused to succumb to the inducement to be on standby for an upgrade at an extra cost, as, if there are better rooms available, and we are such 'valued and loyal members', as we were told on check in, then an upgrade should be complementary as in other hotels. We were also told that being a member meant we got complementary wifi, but again free wifi is standard in most hotels now. So, our room was a standard ground floor room, which was roomy enough and pleasantly decorated and reasonably quiet, as it was at the rear. There was a small window but no view, but it is on old building so no surprise there really. However the bed in the room was the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in - it was very high and had a rock hard mattress, which left us feeling we were reenacting the Princess and the Pea story! The shaving mirror in the bathroom had a bright light, which could not be switched off meaning that the light was on all night. Shutting the bathroom door did solve that problem but the lack of any heating in the bathroom then meant the room was freezing cold, as it was not sharing any of the bedroom warmth. The flooring in the bathroom was also very cold - a heated towel rowel at least would surely help with those issues. Add to that a shower which did not really get hot and the whole experience was not overly relaxing or pleasant. On our second day we returned to the hotel at 3.30pm for a rest before going back out for the evening to find that the room had not been made up, which was recifited promptly when brought to Reception's attention, but meant we had to de-camp to the bar area to wait. The redeeming feature of the hotel was undoubtedly the staff - all were unfailingly friendly and helpful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Weekend break

Dec 1st, 2019

We checked in on Friday for our 2 night stay. We was informed that we was in room 610 which was in the basement. When opening the room door we could instantly smell sewage we later realised that there was an air freshener above the bathroom door which was most probably put there to mask the smell coming from the drains in the bathroom. After a 4 hour car journey both me and my partner was eager for a shower and to freshen up, the complimentary shampoo was wrapped in black hair. We then was hanging our clothes up when we noticed there was a big hole by the wardrobe in the floor and every time you walked by it then the laminate floor would nip your foot if not wearing shoes. The walls were very thin so could hear people walking up and down the corridor. Also there was a pipe running down our wall so could hear loud gurgling throughout the night and early morning. Very disappointing after looking forward to this weekend for so long and paying almost £400 for 2 nights. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A cut above the rest !!

Nov 25th, 2019

I like the Indigo hotels in the IHG portfolio. They each have their own quirks and personality which, when you travel a lot for business, is refreshing. This one is Earls Court rather than Kensington and very convenient, literally 2 mins from Tube station but in a quiet side street. Lots of good pubs and restaurants on it’s doorstep. Did not try hotel restaurant which was busy and seems well supported. Indigo rates can be pricey. If you find it at a decent rate, unlikely you’ll be disappointed TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
