Excellent experience

Aug 14th, 2019

Stayed with family and loved the ambiance, charm, natural beauty, and customer service. Very close to downtown Aix, but just as easy hanging at the beautiful pool or in the lovely gardens. Restaurant is top notch. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent customer service, well above and beyond

Aug 13th, 2019

First of all I must say the pictures do not do this charming and beautiful hotel justice. It has the most beautiful gardens and dining on the terrace cannot be matched. But the real story here is their exemplary customer service. The manager Mr Abibou and the rest of the team went above and beyond to help us cancel dining reservations, make new dining reservations, make suggestions on routes and places to see, accommodate our 4am early departure with a sack of breakfast items and fresh coffee, for us to take along the way and finally to handle shipping purchases back to me in the USA. Mr Abibou even called other concierges near Moustier to see if the lavender was still in bloom in that area. When he did not know personally of a restaurant in an area we were visiting, he called and asked a concierge in that town to secure a solid recommendation. The food in the restaurant was very good, breakfast each morning and dinner on the terrace 2 of the 3 nights we were there, they provided very good service, wine selection and cocktail options. All of the staff spoke English and even suffered through my attempts at French. We had a standard room in the main building which was nice with a window to the front and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a great large shower and ample space for toiletries. They have bicycles and a shuttle available to take you into Aix, but we easily walked in to town in about 10 minutes. The only regret I have is that we were only here for three nights and did not get to take advantage of the pool and bar in the garden. We used this as a home base to travel around Provence and were gone all day. I have travelled extensively and stayed in some of the best hotels in the world and this is by far by best hotel experience to date, largely due to Mr. Abibou and his gracious and attentive service. When I return to Provence I will be staying at Le Pigonnet. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Superb 5 star experience

Aug 8th, 2019

This boutique type of hotel offers a truly luxurious experience with comfort service and location. Set just outside the tourist attractions of Aix-en-Provence, the property is in a gorgeous setting. PROS: comfortable room which was spacious and well designed and furnished. Very comfortable bed and luxurious linens. Excellent A/C, much appreciated during our 2 day stat, with temperatures in the 34-38 range (90s). The room and bathroom were clean. Although we’d have preferred a terrace, the view from our room was like a Cezanne landscape. The pool and grounds are a major plus. We enjoyed walking in the beautifully manicured gardens daytime and nighttime. The staff was kind enough to open a bottle of fine wine we purchased locally, to enjoy under the stars with some snacks The food in the main restaurant is an amazing experience, although breakfast was a bit disappointing. I’ve reviewed the restaurant separately. Suffice it to say that the food service and atmosphere made for an unforgettable experience. There is ample free parking and free wifi that worked well. Service seemed a bit pretentious at first, but overall very efficient and friendly. CONS: Not much to criticize, although the breakfast was less than anticipated. Croissants and baguettes were below average for France. Coffee was mediocre. A pet peeve of mine that was mentioned by another reviewer is that guests leave items on poolside lounge chairs in the shade all day to “reserve “ the best spots. See photo. Although the fault lies with the guests the pool staff should monitor this. Finally the gym was rather small and inadequately air conditioned. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel and it’s fine restaurant without reservation. Expensive but worth it TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A super hotel

The review process is a bit much. That aside it’s a great hotel that provides a good base to explore what Aix has to offer. Best to remember a long sleeved shirt for the pool and a trip to the polo shop beforehand is advisable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Outstanding hotel, a true gem

Jul 30th, 2019

Stayed for 1 night, family of 4 in 2 rooms. Booked expecting something special and we were not dissapointed: The gardens are exceptional, rooms very good with period design and furniture but modern amenities. Pool area is fantastic, breakfast was great. The location, effectively in the Aix centre is largely irrelevant. On-site parking free and ample. Service a bit formal apart from the great pool bartender/caretaker guy. Did not try dinner but the whole setting looked great. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
