Little gem in the Old City!

Jul 22nd, 2020

This cozy hotel is located in the heart of the Old City, perfect to walk around and discover the cozy streets of Old Quebec. The room was nice and clean and the service followed the cleaning protocols. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Awesome awesome awesome!!!! This was a very good hotel. Small cozy rooms with great views of the busy streets of Old Quebec City. The location was unmatched from what I could see (perfect location) and friendly staff who spoke French and English. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who visits the City because it is nice and cost affordable within walking distance to all areas and entertainment. 8.2/10 score ability TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

budget friendly, prime location, only basics

CHECK-IN (4/5): Easy check-in, we booked our reservation on Expedia. Only con is that I was almost 100% positive that this hotel offered free parking because that's what I was looking for when looking into hotels. But they charge 22CAD/day for parking, which was honestly a real inconvenience. They have valet to park our cars which I think is a bit unnecessary considering the lot is a few feet from the hotel and it can get inconvenient when we're trying to leave and have to wait in line for the valet to get our car because sometimes there's a line of people trying to get their cars. Like, just give me the keys and I'll get my car myself. We have to park our car ourselves in the lot after the valet leaves, which I'm guessing is about 9pm. And we returned almost after 9pm every night. So what am I paying for exactly? ROOM (4/5): the room was bigger than expected and actually really super cute. it was spacious enough and the bed was comfortable. the duvet is a little weird where it's not a duvet cover but to sheets tied over it like a sandwich on the duvet, so it can get kind of crazy while sleeping. they have a coffee machine with coffee pods and a fridge. all the basic amenities a hotel would normally have. the shower has good pressure and can get surprisingly hot. it takes a few twists and turns to get the temperature just right. the only con i would say is that i wish they offered a lockbox with the room. HOTEL GROUNDS (3/5): it's honestly nothing terribly special. there's a small, cozy front desk lobby. no elevator, so you're stuck with pretty narrow stairs to wherever your room is. i was unfortunately (?) placed on the top floor (5th floor) so it was a bit of a struggle getting all of our luggage up those narrow stairs. you can hear what's going on outside your room door which can get pretty annoying because the floors are pretty creaky. they have a "spa" on the top floor of one side of their building. you can get the key from the front desk to unlock it. it's basically a hot tub/jacuzzi on the roof. we went in the middle of january so it was pretty cold, but it was still very nice once you got in the water. wish the water was hotter but it was still very nice. you will get smacked with the cold wind though since it is an open space to the outside! LOCATION (5/5): the location to this hotel is everything. it's on a quiet street away from the main commotion of old quebec, but just right around the corner is a street filled with restaurants and cafes. it's honestly a great great location. very walkable for the entirety of the old quebec area and if you have a car, short drives to a lot of other attractions in the area! would highly recommend this hotel purely for the location and the budget on getting a room. SERVICE (4/5): everyone we interacted with at this hotel was extremely friendly. they were quick and attenative and conversational. the valets always offered to help with luggage. the only reason why i had to dock a point from my rating is because when we asked to exchange some of our USD to CAD, they gave us 1:1 which we all know is not right. so we got kind of robbed there when we needed cash... other than that, really friendly people. CHECKOUT (4/5): super quick, just had to hand the keys over. had to dock a star due to previously mentioned issue with having to wait for the valet to get our car. we had to wait maybe 20 minutes until our car pulled up. especially convenient in the morning when we're trying to make moves and get home. OVERALL (4/5): aside from the minor inconveniences mentioned above, this place is a great place to stay if you plan on really going out and about in old quebec - which you should! the place was very comfortable, very friendly and had everything we needed. nothing was too out of convenience and the hotel did exactly what we needed it to do on a budget. would probably stay here again if we can't find a place better for the same price. *TIPS* - use your credit card where you can if you're not going to be hit with international fees. almost every business will swap 1:1 for USD and it's never fun throwing your money away. if you must, bring small bills so that you can exchange what you need and not be stuck with CAD that you don't need - you can make do without a vehicle in old quebec, everything is walkable TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A true GEM of a place to stay in Old Quebec City!

Jan 19th, 2020

The buildings are historic as most places are in the area but that combined with excellent service and accommodations will make this place your perfect destination when visiting the Old City. My room was upgraded so I stayed in the actual Hotel Acadia building rather then one of the other 2 structures that are a part of this hotel. My room had a huge bathroom with both a shower and a jacuzzi tub! The fireplace is strictly for ambiance which provides a perfect backdrop to a cold snowy day outside. The staff will help you carry your luggage up the stairs as there is no lift. I was allowed to have both an early arrival and a late check out. Since I was only staying 24hrs this was a tremendous treat. Bed is comfortable and room has a country charm to it. Very cozy and roomy. There is a restaurant they recommend for breakfast called the Sagmite which was wonderful and I will review later. All in all a wonder 24hour stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fabulous location. Right inside the walls of the old city. Even the taxi driver from the airport said you’re in the best location. Rooms are really nice with exposed brick wall. Definitely an older hotel but an excellent value. I took my toddler son and we were definitely come back. Cannot say enough about the management at this hotel. Airline canceled our flight and management showed overwhelming kindness moving our reservations without fees and repeatedly accommodating us with literally a mess of dates and arriving in middle of the night. If the rest of the world or as understanding as management at this hotel the world would be a better place. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
