Delicious French cuisine and central location
Standard rooms are small (190 square feet)
Hotel Mela sits in the heart of New York City (read: Times Square), but many say it's a respite from the concrete jungle. Converted from an office building, the Hotel Mela retains a business feel, according to recent travelers. Accommodations are sleek, modern and come equipped with flat-screen TVs, Egyptian cotton linens and complimentary Wi-Fi access. However, some recent travelers do caution that the rooms are compact, even for New York City. Still, previous visitors love the hotel's incredible location, just minutes from Madison Square Garden, Grand Central Station and Fifth Avenue. Plus, the hotel boasts mouthwatering French fare at on-site bistro, Saju; if that doesn't satisfy you, an eclectic array of first-rate restaurants are located within walking distance.

Critic Reviews

New York Magazine

Hotel Mela is — despite a misleading old façade — a tribute to contemporary Italian design inside: Guest rooms are done up in muted golds and beiges then accented by splashes of color...

Free Wi-Fi, homey and attractive rooms with great beds, and a high-quality fitness center make the Mela an excellent alternative to the many Times Square chain hotels.
