Beautiful historic landmark

I was impressive with the classic lobby. I received a room upgrade to a junior suite in the top floor which was comfortable and decorated elegantly. During the pandemic they still provided to go breakfast for HHonor members. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
A little step back in time

Lovely hotel with an art deco vibe. The lobby is beautiful with dark wood and luscious seating. Made me think I should have had a flapper outfit on. The room was well-appointed. Overall, very nice hotel. It should be noted that you can't access the parking lot through the hotel. While the parking building is a very short walk away (right behind the hotel), there is no direct access. Also, my room didn't have a mini-fridge. Not sure if it was just my room that was missing one or if the same goes for all rooms. Neither the parking nor the fridge situation was a deal breaker but merely something to note. Would have loved to have visited the speakeasy but, unfortunately, it was closed during our midweek stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Beautiful Hotel, Great Staff!

Absolutely gorgeous, historic hotel near the convention center and walking distance to a number of great restaurants and bars. The lobby has a shuffleboard for guest to play on and is beautifully redone. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel experience. Highly recommend. Close to all the action that KC has to offer. Awesome architecture. Speakeasy was a fun experience. Staff were all very nice and helpful. Breakfast in the restaurant was amazing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Where Are the Employees?

I love Hilton Hotels. It's my first choice when I travel. But the Hotel Phillips in Kansas City has furloughed too many people. There were literally twenty people in a line waiting to be checked in and there was NO ONE at the front desk. When she did come, it turned out she was taking people up to their rooms rather than giving them a key. There were room problems. The phone was not answered. Anyone could have stolen anything behind the front desk because it was unattended. It took forever. No keyless entry. No room choices. No restaurants. Thank goodness for Lynette in the bar (which was full of people waiting for the front desk employee to come back to the front desk). It was a nightmare at this aging and understaffed hotel. Come on, Hilton...we expect more at these prices. Live up to your advertising! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
