Not sure! Centrally locates.

The hotel is walking distance to downtown which was very convenient for the one time we had time to go out and explore. The restaurant including breakfast is in a nice complex across the street. It’s disappointment was with the moldy shower and the WiFi that never worked. We also reached out to the front desk. The other stuff like the low water pressure in the shower and the aged furnishing really was doable. The staff is not the friendliest but ok. Maybe this is average for the area. Not sure. Also if you are a light sleeper the tours start pretty early and the busses and all the hustle and bustle starts from around 5:30 am. Ask for a room away from the street. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overnight stay

We were in room 381. Pretty bad. Small, & not very comfortable. Neither our friends or us would ever return to this hotel. Convenient to walk into town is the only plus for the hotel. Terrible breakfast also. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not service of 4 stars hotel. Blankets just scratchy wool. Advising on the wrong reception We asked for a restaurant reservation They said that only coming and being accepted had no reservations of course when we arrived and asked what our order was and we didn't and would not let it sit. Lucky for the restaurant were nice people who recommended a great chef restaurant near Mako TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Convenient choice in El Calefate

Jan 26th, 2020

Nice rooms, good breakfast, nice pool with somewhat run down spa area. Good place to stay after just landing after 25 hours of travel. Front desk service was at times a bit overwhelmed with more than basic questions. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A very comfortable stay, a good base for exploring El Calafate and the surrounding natural wonders.

The 30-year old hotel / resort consisted of an extensive complex just a short walk from the center of El Calafate. The main lodge was separated from the resort building across the street. We checked in without a hitch, staff were polite and efficient. The bellhop was efficient at getting our luggage to our junior suite. The lobby was of a good size with numerous comfortable couches to relax in. The wood/stone/tile lodge decor was welcoming, The room was of a spacious for a junior suite. The living room was separated by double doors from the bedroom. The bathroom was a large one with a good-sized whirlpool tub. The bellhop showed us around pointing out the features of the room. Housekeeping was good. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Posada Los Alamos was in a quiet part of town so street noise was not an issue. We had lunch at the Bar El Águila on the first floor of the main lodge. Breakfast buffets were at the La Posta restaurant in the sport complex across the street. We felt the choices were pretty good and well-prepared. One morning I attempted to prepare my own "mate" beverage, a tradition drink in the southern part of South America. I clearly had not done it correctly and a waitress quickly came over, took the gourd from my hands, and told me she would show me how to do it properly. We had a light dinner one evening at the upstairs Humus Cocktail Bar where one had a view of part of the golf course. There was a wine cave and it sounds like it might have been fun to sampled wine there. Part of the attraction of the Posada Los Alamos was the lush grounds, the well-kept grass lawns all shaded by tall trees. In the evenings and early morning we would run into black-faced ibises pecking away at the lawn. The hotel / resort clearly had a lot to offer in terms of activities. There was a pool table at the Humus Cocktail Bar and there was live music on weekends. There was a large pool apparently at the spa. And there was the golf course. We did not get to enjoy those activities as we were here to explore the region. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay. It was very calm and restful after long days out exploring Patagonia.
