Super clean, with carefully manicured outdoor space

Oct 31st, 2020

Quality hotel, and systems they have put in place for Covid were very thorough. Checked everyone’s temperature before entering restaurant, facemasks obligatory in all public areas. Wonderful pool with frontline sea views and to the side of the hotel a lovely pool with fish. Extensive choice for buffet and breakfast. As the numbers were very reduced, because of the virus, I expected that there would be less abundance of choice, especially to prevent wastage ( which I disapprove of). Under the circumstances, they, the staff are doing a great job. Well mannered and polite and friendly. The scrambled eggs in the morning were wonderful, just as I like them. Bacon was very hard and leathery for two days but the rest of the seven days we were there, it was fine. Thanks to all the staff for your hard work, much appreciated. Room always cleaned perfectly and cleaning ladies excellent. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fabulous time at the Monica.

Oct 29th, 2020

The hotel is sadly closing on 4th November 2020 with no reopening date known. (Francisco the manager and reception staff confirmed). Upon arrival we were impressed by the COVID-19 precautions, with hand gel available everywhere including lifts and rooms. Temperatures were taken before entry to dining facilities. Because of this cursed pandemic very few foreign guests were staying, the majority being Spanish. Personally I felt safer there than in the UK. The food was much the same as usual but due to reduced guest numbers without the normal amount on display. The infamous brown scratchy towels are still being used. Similar to sandpaper, exfoliating rather than drying. This needs to change for the reopening. Staff very attentive and efficient as usual. We will miss them whilst we wait to discover a reopening date so that we can return to our favourite hotel. All in all we had a super 18 night holiday. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great accommodation, food and staff

Oct 16th, 2020

This is a 4* star hotel with 5* service. In fact we had such an enjoyable time we extended our stay ( and I have never done that before ) Housekeeping was brilliant and the sea view was glorious. Buffet style food that simply had an endless choice of goodies at both breakfast and dinner. Sally is a veggie and the chefs were happy to prepare or modify any dish if there was nothing she liked. What a great attitude. The premises were spotless and the Covid cleaning was self evident. Even at the poolside chairs, parasols and safety rails into the pool were constantly being disinfected. Our safety as guests was clearly paramount. We would happily recommend this hotel and hope to return asap. A special "thank you" to Lola and her colleagues on Reception TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fantastic Hotel

Oct 8th, 2020

Wonderful location within a few minutes walk from the centre of Nerja. A very Covid safe environment throughout the hotel. Welcoming staff and a wonderful set out room. Well equipped with a super view as we were allocated a 6th floor room. Plenty of lifts so that wasn't an issue. Mini bar not stocked, but fridge still available which was a nice unexpected bonus allowing us to chill our own drinks. Buffet varied and plentiful both for breakfast and evening meals. Pool area well laid out with plenty of sunloungers and a pool bar nearby. Private access to the paseo and beach which is within 50M of the hotel. If I had to list a couple of negatives.... Double Room booked was 2 single beds pushed together. Not what we would have expected when booking a double room. Towels in the room whilst adequate were nowhere near luxury. Small and not exactly plush. Very basic. Dinner plates for all meals were the size of a side or childs plate. Annoying because if you want a decent sized meal you have to keep returning to the buffet as it's impossible to put every item on the plate. Oh and I have a healthy appetite but nowhere near a 'big eater'! All in all however the negatives nowhere near diminish the overall hotel experience and we will definitely be returning soon.
