Mediocre resort

This is our second time staying here. Four years ago, we were impressed with the service, cleanliness and overall experience. This time, the experience was NOT the same. We still have another day and half, and although Aruba and the beach is STUNNING, It is safe to say we will never stay at this resort again. The cleanliness has dropped significantly. For example, the bathroom by the pool was not even cleaned over night. The same stains and spills / toilets were DISGUSTING. The lights in the bathroom flicker, there is mold in the bathroom, the floors are dirty. This place and the rooms needs a makeover. Food... again, mediocre at best. The service is okay. Of course we came across some friendly people, but others who clearly did not want to be there and some standoffish staff is really not something that’s acceptable at a resort. Lastly, if you want to get someone to bring you a drink at the pool, forget about it unless you bring an air horn or two hours to spare. Honestly, look somewhere else. We have spoken to other people who are here currently who said the quality of this place has dropped over the years from what they’ve experienced too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointed in Disabled (Handicapped Room Reservations)

So First off i would like to say that am very disappointed that my hubby n i will not be joining our Family n Friends on a trip to Aruba next year in May. We had put in a request to stay at The Hotel RIU Palace Antillas because our previous option Sold Out.. So my Reservation was accepted but to find out that the room that i would need would not be GUARANTEED until the day I Checked In. I was going to Email Corporate but I was told I could only Email or Speak with Customer Service. So im taking this to Social Media. My husband is Non-Amulatory and is Wheelchair Bound and Needs this type of Room. Honestly is that too much to ask for? So asking Reservations why this cannot be GUARANTEED, their response was because they Do Not Know if its Available and that I would need to call The Hotel and ask them. I did call the Hotel and was told that they are unable to Guarantee the Room because they wont know that its Available until the day of Check in. My question is How are u suppose to make reservations if you need particular accomodations? Im not asking for assistance in lifting and transfering my husband, just a room that accomodates mobility, and to able to transfer safely. Is that too much to ask for? So we had made the choice to go and waited until the day of... and we didnt get the room we needed we dont know if the room we would get would accomodate my husband at all? Would the bathroom be too small? He needs handrails to hold onto.. regular bathrooms are not equipped with those.. he does not stand.. he needs a roll in shower but instead would have to get sponge bathed for a week?? Or if his chair does not fit in the bathroom, then he would have to use the public restrooms to go to the bathroom each time? And we would be paying top dollar for what?? For my husband to have to go through more because he is unable to walk?? They also lose almost $3000 or more because i will NOT be Booking that reservation due to uncertainity. I also understand this is a Multi Million $ Corp and they dont need my $ but one Negative Review leads to many potential customers seeing this. And all this just because they are unable to Guarantee a Room at Reservation. I know this is International but it does seem that people who are disabled are not thought of too much. Just make a simple change and that would make things so much easier for people. Just a FYI .. this not the only All Inclusive Resort in Aruba that does this... im just doing the review on this Resort because I was going to Book with them. Thank You for your time. Average Hotel

Let me start by saying this was our first time in Aruba. What we loved - the beach, the location, the pool. The hotel itself is average in appearance. My room was 1534 - views were beautiful and watched the sunet evey night. But the room is in desparate need of updating and was not in pristine condition. I felt the room could've been cleaner as well. Nothing special here at all. Drinks were average - amount of alcohol depended on the bartender and it did not seem to matter if you tipped or not. Paola, the towel lady, was a ray of sunshine:) Food in the restaurants was also average to good. No reservations required but there was a few times that we were turned away and had to eat at the buffet because there were no more tables available - even though it was only 7:30. So plan ahead. Not What I Expected for a Honeymoon

We were so excited to stay here especially due to the “honeymoon” upgrades we thought we would receive. What is listed on the website IS NOT the case unfortunately. A ‘ free room upgrade”= the same room on a higher level with the same low quality furniture & we asked for the ‘late’ checkout to be told, “we already offer a later checkout than other hotels”....in all we had to spend an extra 30$ for an extra hour. With this resort you sacrifice the location for any type of luxury. This was NOT a luxerious honeymoon. Staff are generally rude, with the exception of bartenders. There’s is barely any entertainment during the day, comparatively to other adults- only resorts. You cannot get into a restaurant unless you leave the pool and get ready quickly for 4pm to wait in a line. The food was pretty good at the buffet- but again, being on a honeymoon it would have been nice to eat a meal with service at a table- without sacrificing sunlight. We had THE MOST fun and best meals off resort. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very disappointed ! horrible rooms !

This is our second visit to this hotel. We stayed here exactly 2 years ago. Last time we loved it so much that we didn’t even think twice and booked it again plus brought 2 other couples with us. This time thing were different. The rooms are in horrible condition. Mold all over. On the ceiling,on the walls even on the lamps ... the shower does not work. It constantly changes from ice cold to burning hot. Faucets are leaking,etc The furniture is old and outdated. When we complained to the front desk the answer we were given “ we will send you extra shampoo and conditioner for your inconvenience “ Maintenance people came up to our room several times and all they said “ it’s an old building nothing we can do. We are waiting for renovation but because we are constantly sold out management doesn’t want to loose the money so they are delaying it every year. Couple of days later the manager showed up Mr. Borje. He is a really nice guy and very professional. Great customer service. He tried to accommodate us as much as possible by making 2 reservations for us in the restaurants. Otherwise you have to wait nearly 3-3.5 hours to get in. He offered to find us a different room but when you are fully unpacked and already spent 3 days with all these problems we refused to start moving. Other rooms didn’t look any better then our room. When I reached out to Riu customer service upon our return home they said that there is nothing they can do for us. We should’ve moved when we were offered. Otherwise all we can offer you is an apology We’ve stayed at Riu resorts all over the world but this was horrible experience. Never again ! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
