Annual Family/Friend Vacation

Feb 17th, 2020

First time staying in Cabo and at the Riu Palace. It was very nice and clean and the ocean view was amazing. The staff were very friendly, even the maintenance staff would smile and greet you. If you like to swim in the ocean you are not able to infront of the resort but there was a swimming area in walking distance. We had fun going down the water slides at the Santa Fe and we went to their themed pool party there as well, great time!! We took a boat trip out to Lover's Beach that was fun, just don't spend your money on the glass bottom boat not worth it just take a regular boat. A couple downfall is the Resort has a lot of stairs and very few elevators and the Buffet food was better then the restaurants. If you go, stop by the Theater bar and say hi to Miguel, he is a great bartender!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Winter Getaway

Feb 17th, 2020

This was our first stay at a Riu in Cabo San Lucas. We used the complimentary shuttle. All I will say is have patience but once in the van good service. We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by Fransisco who was very efficient and friendly. The remainder of our two week stay he always greeted us with a smile and hola. Our room was ocean view and looked over the pool as well. It was very clean and housekeeping was very good. Also they were right up on keeping our fridge stocked. The buffet had an excellent selection especially being there for two weeks. We ate at Krystal 3 times and the food and atmosphere was very good. El Médano steak house and Bombay the food was good. The Italian restaurant we were very disappointed with both food and service and only went once. Our biggest complaint with the whole stay was you can’t make dinner reservations at the a la Carte restaurants. The Indian and Japanese restaurants were only opened three nights a week and indicated they opened at 18:30 we would get there 10 minutes early and the restaurant would already be full with a waiting list. Krystal has flashers they give out but the other restaurants just have a list. It also says long pants in some of the restaurants but they were letting in men in shorts. Lounge bar and cappuccino bar wonderful places to watch the ocean and relax Big thanks to the following staff who made the trip enjoyable: Margarita, Miguel, Lupita, Irma,Fernando and the many other staff who were very friendly and helpful. Unless you are a good beach walker it is a 250 peso cab ride into Cabo, we didn’t get to San José del Cabo. We did do a whale watching trip which was well worth the money. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Reward trip

Feb 16th, 2020

I’d rate it 3.5 if I had that choice. The good... Very clean, it was hard to walk anywhere without seeing someone cleaning something. Drinks were good, however were inconsistent depending on bartender. Name brand liquor Not packed in there like sardines like the Santa Fe people are. Bed and room was comfortable Staff was very friendly Beautiful location/property The bad... Food was ok. Not bad, but not great. Most of it was very bland at the buffet not enough seasoning. Krystal had a good tenderloin, raspberry cheese cake was good and bacon and yogurt were good at breakfast, poolside burger was good. I understand they are trying to please a broad pallet but some studying by the chefs in the US would help I think. Lots of items were close, but not quite. Lamb chops were bad (they always are it seems) lobster and crab legs weren’t good either on the buffet, almost tasted like bleach. Our room was close to Los Cabos bar/night club. I’m not a fuddy duddy but on the last night when we left it really sucked trying to fall asleep for our early departure with the guy signing just outside our deck till 11. Can’t swim at the beach, it’s too steep and it has a major undercurrent No bathrooms close to the pool bar. You have to go up or down stairs with wet shorts. Every time I did this it I could visualize slipping and falling down the stairs Overall I’d say it was ok but not outstanding. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Cabo in February

Feb 16th, 2020

Third time staying at a Riu resort first time in Cabo San Lucas. As always not dissapointed every thing was excellent. I am use to vactioning every year at the same time in the caribbean but this time we decided to try Cabo. We spent one night venturing out with another couple in San Jose to see the local art festival on a Thursday night and had a great time in San Jose. Then we spent another night with 3 other couples exploring San Lucas Marina and bar hopped. Both towns very safe to walk around at night and the locals all very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would like better was the temperature. During the day it never went past 70 and at night in the low 60's where you need to wear a light sweater and some times also long pants it got very cool at night and this was the first 10 days of February. We will be back to Riu Palace in Cabo

Feb 16th, 2020

Great location close to the action in downtown Cabo. Very clean, safe beaches great for walking, taking in sights and whale watching. Bars and restaurants on premises are top notch. The buffet spreads are spectacular. Poolside bars are great and fast. Morning walks on the beach to downtown takes about an hour round trip and is a great workout in the deep sand. Plenty of activities available off premises too. Very fun place and we will be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
