Amazing hotel.

Jul 20th, 2019

Had the most wonderful stay as always. All staff very attentive and spotlessly clean. Staff are just amazing and work so hard. The staff member that stood out for me was pedro the restaurant manager. He is a real gentleman and is very helpful and courtious at all times no matter what day it is. He made our stay wonderful. And marrisa the new Director is lovely too and has time for every one. This is why people go back. What's not to love about all that. The only sad thing is this hotel should be 5 star and not a 4 as it has and does everything of a 5 star and more. Thank you Riu for yet another wonderful holiday. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Outstanding in every aspect

Jul 19th, 2019

I think that people only write reviews when they have something to moan about or, less often, when they come across something that they want to rave about. Well, here goes. The RIU Hotel Palace Maspalomas in Gran Canaria is quite simply superb in every aspect. This is probably one of the top 3 hotels that i have stayed in, the other 2 being in Crete. The building itself is quite palatial, commanding a position at the end of Avenida de Tirajana overlooking The Dunes nature Park. The Dunes themselves, Las Dunas, are a protected habitat and spread for over 400 hectares from the hotel down to the sea, by way of the gay nude beach, so be careful where you look if out walking on the dunes. The rooms are great too, with plenty of clothes storage, comfortable beds and a large bathroom and big terrace, well ours did, some others may not. There are two pools, the largest one is, well, large and the smaller one is not so big. Both have plenty of room for sunbeds and there are lots of other areas with sunbeds, so if you don't want to sit by the pool, you don't have too. There's a jacuzzi too, but I didn't try it. There are plenty of staff around and all of them, bar none, are very welcoming and extremely cheerful and friendly. The Reception staff are really efficient and helpful and the bar and restaurant staff are drilled to perfection, and always look immaculate. The food in the restaurant is really good and there is a wide enough choice to suit everyone. There are two dinner sittings and you are allocated a table for the duration of your stay, so no rushing around trying to find a good table, which is a nice touch. if you don't like your allocated table, the Maitre D will try to find you an alternative if he can. The evening entertainment is quite varied but, generally, is pretty good and certainly nothing to moan about. Typical holiday cabaret groups etc, but the Spanish dance troupe were excellent. Now to the bad points! Firstly, the hotel gym is quite small and has a few cadio machines and a couple of resistance machines but no loose weights, not even any dumbells. I know this is a H&S thing, but a collection of dumbells, up to 20 kgs or so, wouldn't cause any issues i don't think. I also know that most people don't use a gym on holiday, so this is not really a big criticism and i know i'm in a very small minority here. My biggest gripe is that there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. I'm sure this is RIU policy but sometimes it is nice to come in from the sun and sit down on the terrace with a cup of tea; a very British pleasure that I was denied. Maybe this is just a British thing, but this would have been the cherry on the icing of, what is, an exceptionally good cake. In summary, this is an outstandingly excellent hotel with an excellently outstanding staff. My complaints are miniscule compared to the 'big-ups' I give this hotel. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Riu Palace Hotel Maspalomas to anyone and i hope very much that I will get the opportunity to come back here again. Simply outstanding, well done RIU Palace Hotel Maspalomas. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very relaxing and comfortable stay and the food was faultless with something for everyone. Even if you are fussy you can ask the chef to deal with you're special request. The views across the dunes to the beach where picturesc TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Family holiday

Lovely hotel. Great service, food is excellent with a good choice to choose from . Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Not sure why people say it's dated. The decor seems in keeping to the style of the hotel. Claudia the bar staff Was really friendly and was asking about my wife who unfortunately hurt her back and ended in hospital. Ruban stood out aswell as the tall girl with short hair. Very friendly. Only small down points was the welcome from the lady behind reception wasn't very friendly and seemed stern..when I told her my wife was screaming in pain later the same evening she just handed me a card for the doctor, I said can't you phone them. In the end the doctor arrived and called an ambulance . Thought she would at least ask how she was the following day. As I spoke to her the following day. The pool was abit cold and jacuzzi freezing hence no one using it. Apart from that lovely hotel.. will definitely go back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
