Fantastic Place

May 22nd, 2019

I have just come back from a 10 day stay here and found it excellent. The location is great, a walk from 5th Avenue and a short ride to XCaret and the other parks. Also, right on an amazing beach. All the staff are really helpful and friendly. The waiters round the pool are great, they work really hard. The people at reception are really helpful too. The food was great, loads of choice. We ate in the Japanese restaurant one night and in the steak restaurant. The steak one was my fave. The pool and swim up bar are really good, there are loungers all the time. People do start saving the ones round the edge of the pool at around 7.30am but if you come down later there are always some around. There was a foam party monday which was loads of fun. All in all we loved it here and would deffo come back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Time

May 21st, 2019

After seeing the remodeling in the other resorts I was glad I was able to experience the beauty of the resort with the huge paintings, beautiful chandeliers and old wood style charm. I will be sad when they remodel in August. I also love that the pool is connected and not a bunch of separate pools like the updated properties. The food was good however of all the all inclusive's I have been to the best meals I've had were at the French restaurant which had the smoked tenderloin and lobster with mushroom risotto, although I wasn't fond of the starters my friends like them. The service by all the staff was great, Adriana at the lobby bar, Claudia, Jose, Freddie with the exception of one very busy day they all deserve to have their names listed. Great staff! The beach was fine but lots of sea grass and both my husband and I got some kind of a sting after swimming in it and we still went back. Not sure what it was but covering it with antibiotic cream and a band aid resolved it.. Our room was o.k. a/c was a bit noisy, our friends had a saggy/hard bed which wasn't dealt with well but they did finally get them a mattress topper after I caught the made in the hallway, the front desk would send people but the best they had to offer was a blanket under the sheet. Overall I loved our stay and would return again. I don't usually mention anything outside of the resort but this was a great time! We took a taxi from our resort for two hours to see non-touristy things, our driver was Carlos Diaz Taxi #1011 his english was a bit broken but he did an amazing job!! Hand's down one of the best excursions I've done and unlike most excursions my time was not wasted by waiting for others. If I remember correctly the cost was $20 per hour and there were 4 of us. If you like old style charm I would book this resort quickly before it is turned in to just another american looking resort. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excelente!

May 21st, 2019

I have read many reviews about this resort, some were great and others not so great. First I will say that my husband and I are very easy to please and we know the value of hard work. The resort is beautiful. The grounds are well maintained. The rooms are spacious and clean. Yes, it needs a little touch up but the colonial look is beautiful and should be kept so. What makes this the best place we have been to is the staff!! They are the best! You will never feel slighted, neglected, or forgotten! Everyone here is willing to please! We were treated like royalty everywhere we went! At the pool bar, Fabian is the guy to see, at the Lirico, see Felipe or my favorite, Jonathan, both captains. For your buffet breakfast see Mendez (captain) and Carlos thee best! For dinner at the Krystal see Cesar...wow! These are just a FEW of the best. So many folks took care of us that it was hard to remember everyone. The "other services" team is so much fun but not pushy. They go around making friends with everyone and inviting all to the different activities. Ricky, Chu-Cho, Marisol, Tere, Omar just to name some of them. Cristian is excellent aquatics workout coach! So fun. This resort will be closed in Aug/2019 for extensive renovation. I hope they keep some of the "old" charm. We love this place!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing holiday

May 20th, 2019

We chose the perfect place for our first visit to Mexico. Everything was wonderful, the room, the pools, the swim up bar, lots of sunbeds for everyone. The atmosphere, the decoration and character of the hotel with beautiful stain glass windows on the ceiling and chandeliers in reception and the elegant water falls along the pathways towards the beach. The staff were lovely and the service was excellent. We had so much fun at aqua aerobics, we played bingo and darts around the pool and read lots of books. It was so relaxing we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else apart from a few visits to Fifth Avenue to visit the shops and evening entertainment. We have never been anywhere that serves such good quality food with lobster and mountains of prawns, the selection was excellent, every day & night, see our pictures. We would go back in an instant. We walked to the Riu Tequila and Yukatan but didn't like them as much as they were very modern and in our opinion a bit like an airport lounge or shopping mall. I hope the up and coming renovations at the Palace are minor - just perhaps painting and decorating, fixing the tiles on the pool etc, it would be a shame to rip the character out and make it like the other two hotels. If you can afford to pay the extra, stay here. We would go back in a flash. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointment

May 19th, 2019

Following my sister’s recommendation we booked a week there. Sadly, none of the expectations were satisfied: the white sand beaches and beautiful turquoise ocean no longer exist: there’s been an invasive algi along the Mayan riviera for already more than 2 years!. Nobody told us about it. It seems that the hotel has changed administration, no more shows every night as my sister told us they used to have. The restaurant’s food, horrible. Only Don Manolo’s served a great and fresh menu. The Brazilian restaurant is a joke, nothing compared to the tender and tasty meats from a real rodizio in Brazil. Most of the waiters were helpful and attentive. We had some problems in the bedroom, like the coffee maker wasn’t working, neither the plug ins ... one day no cleaning at all, the key control in the door needed to be reset at midnight... the weather was fantastic and we spend most of our time at the pools. The gym has seen better days, the equipment is very old and needs updates... I don’t recommend this hotel at all. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
