Building site not a luxury hotel

Jan 18th, 2020

I am sure in normal times this is an outstanding hotel, but currently is a building site. Don't take my word for it, read the note that greeted us from the management in the room, telling us virtually no public rooms were available, as currently a building site. No reception, no lobby, no terraces by the river, no access to the roof vantage area, in short, a room but no hotel. Grand hotels must renovate and rebuild, but also they should not not take money from the unsuspecting public for staying in a building site. On arrival, at a makeshift reception that had been set up in a cramped area of the coffee shop, we were made to sign a form agreeing not to take and share photos of the hotel in it's current state. Quite shocking. We were on the 3rd floor, but as there were no lifts available from the makeshift reception, we were directed to some makeshift emergency exit style stairs to get to our room. In fairness, once in our room it was lovely, apart from the fridge which heated rather than cooled items. Also we complained to the manager Gudrun and she was most sympathetic, agreeing with our concerns and offered us dinner. However, this is not the point. When you pay top dollar to stay at a Small Luxury Hotel, you don't expect to be greeted at the entrance of the hotel by a construction worker, who explains that the main part of the hotel is closed for rebuilding and if you want to get in, you need to use the side door. We were mis sold on this occasion. The hotel should have shut down completely, done the rebuild and not been greedy by continuing to sell rooms whilst the hotel was a building site. Good, with some issues

Jan 15th, 2020

This is a very good hotel, with nice rooms, chic design and a wonderful location. Although we had some issues 1) Our room was not ready when we arrived at 4:30pm in the afternoon. Check-in is normally at 2pm although we were informed that they had given priority to some other guests at our expense... Probably the wrong thing for the front desk to say to customers, especially those who travel half way around the world... Well, thank you for the downgrade Hotel Sacher... 2) Some rooms receive snacks and information updates, others don't. We had two rooms in our group, and the inconsistency in service was very evident (same room category for both rooms). TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Winter brake

An outstanding experience! Everything was perfect. Hotel is situated at best location you can ask for- on river bank and few minutes walk to the old city. Room was extraordinary, real Austrian royal design. Staff was very polite and helpful. Surely we will stay at this hotel again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Like the Sacher property in Vienna, the Sacher Hotel Salzburg is a true institution offering excellent and friendly service throughout all departments of the hotel and good culinary experience. All rooms haben been renovated recently now offering an updated design and technical equipment. Fantastic hotel with excellent staff

Jan 3rd, 2020

We have just returned from our stay at this hotel in room 230 (30th till 3rd). Right from the start, the staff could not have been more welcoming and more helpful. The hotel itself is a lovely building inside and the views on the river side are just amazing to be honest. The bar is a friendly relaxed area with very knowldegeable bar staff. Would we stay here again? YES YES YES! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
