Overpriced, dated, spooky vibe

Mar 9th, 2020

Stayed here for 2 nights with my girlfriend. Chose because it was the cheapest hotel in a suitable location for walking as we didn't have a car. Location is absolutely brilliant. Walking distance to the Pike Place Market, Westlake Mall and lots of Seattle attractions. The guy at check in was also nice but the one at check out was rather surly. The hotel was definitely overpriced for what you got. We paid about $150 per night. Even in London, this similar hotel would be about £50. The room was grubby with a musty smell, the TV had about 5 channels and the window opened all the way (not safe if you have kids, we were on the 5th floor!). Bathroom was grubby and the shower water jumped from freezing to scalding intermittently. The bedsheets were rather gross too. The corridors were super creepy. And the elevator would still be moving when the doors opened! Definitely had a haunted house/murder scene vibe to the place.. That said, it was a rather rustic charm and with the prime location, this hotel has so much potential! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Desperately in need of a makeover!

Oct 13th, 2019

We picked the hotel for price and location as Seattle is so expensive. Having stayed in budget accommodation, hostels and campgrounds around the world I wasn’t expecting much for the price but ... threadbare, fraying towels? Stained, musty carpets? A lift that is still moving when the doors open? A door where the chain has been broken off and not replaced? No toilet roll holder? No towel rack? A Power outlet that comes away from the wall when you use it (plus the one on the bathroom wall that is practically in the shower?) If they took the time and effort to renovate it could be a great place to stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not worth it at normal price

Sep 30th, 2019

The only reason we stayed here was because I got a significant discount from a third party. With the huge discount I'd probably stay again, but at normal price it's not worth it. It is very old, kind of like walking into a time machine. The elevators are slow and a bit wonky, the decor is old, the pillows/blankets etc are sub-par. I didn't think it was particularly dirty, just really really old. The staff was not rude, but not particularly friendly either. There is only wifi in the lobby and not in the rooms. Although it is downtown, nothing in the downtown core stays open past 7 or 8 so it's not actually really a benefit to be right downtown like it may be in other cities. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Filthy dirty

Like almost every other review I agree the place was disgusting, the worse place I've ever stayed and I've stayed in hotels all around the world. Really grotty, I should have read these reviews first. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The staff were terrific. The hotel is dated, but in a cool way.

The staff were terrific. The hotel is dated, around mid 90s. This is perfect to commemorate the Grunge fame era of Seattle. There are not many channels on the television. It didn't feel like there was A/C and the windows only opened about 4 inches. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
