Elegant and serene

Oct 31st, 2019

My wife and I just completed a 3 night stay at this small hotel. Our room (409) was spacious and very peaceful, with a hotel constructed waterfall just outside. The king bed was the most comfortable we have had on our Spanish sojourn. The resort is very clean and the staff efficient and friendly. Breakfast was outstanding. Dinner reviewed separately (outstanding, by the way). The spa is very pricey (treatments) but you can book 90 minutes in the pool/sauna room as a couple for 60 euros. The location is fine - outside of the bustle of the city, but only an 8-10 euro cab away. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Santiago hotels

Oct 12th, 2019

Stayed in 3 hotels in Galicia and Asturias and this was the worst. Situated at the end of a housing estate outside Santiago. We were put in a loft room with very low ceilings. To use the toilet you have to contort yourself as a man (I am not exaggerating) The double bed was very small. Only a double, not even a king. The room has no separate heating or cooling. The towels and bed linen smell heavily of bleach. Breakfast was good. The receptionist a little forgetful on one occasion. However, the building is full of character but honestly I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone for the price. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great in parts , disappointing in other respects

Oct 2nd, 2019

What we liked: atmosphere, gardens, lounges, furnishings and most of the staff were very good. Carlos the barman was superb probably the best we have ever had - he did everything to go the extra mile to make our visits to his bar that bit more enjoyable and as a result we spent more time in the bar ! the restaurant was also superb and good value. Fine dining at a sensible price - highly recommend eating in. What we didnt like: 5th floor room in the attic without a proper window. It was September but even then the room was too hot and the AC couldnt cope. I would absolutely insist on not being on 5th floor on any future visit. Another disappointment was that the Spa adjoining the hotel was chargeable at €28 per 90 minute visit. So just to take a dip in the pool its €28! Extra. This is unacceptable and should have been made clear at the time of booking. Another disappointment was breakfast, a poor selection for an establishment of this quality and the service was completely self serve even drinks - so it felt like hard work compared to other places we have stayed. The solo lady waitress seemed to have ‘attitude’ unlike all the other hotel staff - she needed more help and it showed. Would we book again? - not a 5th floor room and not until the hotel includes the swimming pool in the price. How about 1 free visit for each guest? TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful setting and comfortable boutique hotel

Sep 21st, 2019

We got a room on the first floor hidden away with a view to the river and gardens and thought it was delightful. It was very quiet and nicely furnished. The bed was large and comfortable. I truly enjoyed the warmth and coziness of the room. The breakfast was very good. There was variety and quality products. The last day we had to leave before six am to the airport and the hotel set up a breakfast for us at 4:30 am. Great service and friendly staff. It is a small place and outside the city but charming and peaceful. I thought the food in the cafeteria/bar was tasty. The setting overall is very inviting. The outside pool is hidden and not well suited for swims. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A charming small hotel

Sep 13th, 2019

We made the decision to stay for 3 nights at this hotel just outside the city. We drove in to Santiago de Compostela and each day and parked our car in one of the car parks in the centre (10 mins) & then on two nights we took taxis (6 mins) in for dinner at a couple of local restaurants. We loved getting away from the hustle & bustle of the city to Quinta da Auga & it felt like we were coming home. Our room was cosy and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and charming and the breakfasts & dinner we had in the dining room were both delicious. There are a lot of photos, pictures & bric a Brac around but they are part of the hotels charm. There is not much space outside as most of the grounds are on a hill going down to the water which has been left to grow wild & the above ground pool is really still a bit of a building site. I do agree with a previous reviewer that the sun loungers and outside could do with a bit of sprucing up but for us it didn’t detract from a very peaceful & relaxing stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
