Beautiful historic hotel and super-convenient

Mar 3rd, 2020

My husband and I spent three nights at the Hotel St. Francis recently. It was my first-ever trip to Santa Fe, and it was lovely coming home to the quietly elegant lobby with its limestone (I think) floors and stairway. All of Santa Fe's downtown attractions are just steps away, and valet service was included in our reservation, which made day trips easy as pie. And, we had a lovely dinner at the hotel's Secreto Lounge. It's a historic hotel, so lacks some amenities you might get at other places, e.g., privacy curtain liners. But we loved it and will probably stay there again on our next visit! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Honeymoon to Santa Fe

Feb 21st, 2020

We stayed at Hotel St Francis for our Honeymoon. They had chocolates and champagne waiting for us when we got to our room. They even upgraded us to the most beautiful suite they have which is The Cardinal Suite. Magnificently classy and beautiful. Bedding and pillows of highest quality. We will recommend it to all our friends. Wonderful restaurants inside on first floor and within walking distance. One of our days there we drove up to the Vietnam War Memorial- very moving - they have a great museum at the memorial, also. Everything covered in snow. It was just beautiful. Another day we drove to Taos and Red River. Snowy mountains. We saw men ice fishing on a frozen lake in Red River. My husband said for two summers in college he worked there as a camp guide. There were hardly any other cars on the road. The last day I spent shopping all the boutique stores in downtown Santa Fe. He had a great honeymoon. We also went to Loretto Spa for a wonderful massage. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Popular bar, tiny room

Feb 16th, 2020

The location is right in the heart of the tourist area. The atmosphere is definitely old New Mexico. The bar is very popular. But, my room was tiny. There was no chair. The tv was in an cabinet off to the side, so I would have had to lie in bed on my side to view it, if I had wanted to watch. The bathroom is so small that the sink is in the bedroom. There was no iron in the room, probably because there would not have been room to set up the ironing board. The room was too small for two people and would feel claustrophobic for more than one night. The front desk service was polite, but they were not on top of things. Among other issues, my bill was supposed to be paid by the people who booked the room, but the hotel had no record of it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best Location and in the Plaza / Average Room and slightly less on service

Feb 11th, 2020

The room was SMALL! The bathroom sink is in the room and outside the shower / toilet area - guess that can be a good thing to stay out of the steam to get ready. Service was tolerable... parking is confusing and attendant not helpful, and front desk was distracted or not there. The best thing going for this place is the location, which cannot be beat. Price is good tool TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I wanted to love it....

Jan 27th, 2020

Location is amazing, staff is great, lobby/bar - all fantastic!! It was shaping up to be a 4-5 star...until we got into our room. Y'all - these rooms are SMALL. To be fair, I knew that going in - that is why we sprung for the deluxe room. The one small pedestal sink was actually inside the room - not the bathroom. Not to mention inside the actual bathroom the ceiling had a ton of mold spots. Yikes! We spent one night in this room and my husband said we had to switch - not only because of the size but it was LOUD - like you could hear every single car/truck/bus at all hours during the night. Thankfully the Cardinal Suite was open and it was AMAZING!!! The cardinal suite had everything we could ever want in a room - a sitting area, a huge bathroom with a tub, shower and two sinks, 2 tvs , a separate bathroom - we were in heaven!!! Until....that night - once again - because the hotel is old....so are the windows - where both of our rooms were situated we heard every single car revving its engine outside from 11pm-6am - and this is with a sound machine on full blast! I was so disappointed because it was so good, until it wasn't. So just be prepared - all rooms (except the cardinal suite) are SMALL and LOUD. Otherwise this place is amazing - friendly staff, great bar, lovely lobby. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
