Tranquil first time stay at St. George hotel. We booked a staycation with a friend from St. George and I was delighted to arrive there after a busy workday and find the lobby quiet and staff very helpful and welcoming. The reception desk is situated on the second floor, so the lobby isn't of typical grandeur but checking in and seeing the rest of the hotel's areas, restaurant and the comfy bakery café, it comes together quite nicely. We stayed there on a Monday evening so I suppose a part of the peacefulness was due to that the hotel wasn't nearly fully-booked. Still it was nice that the bakery was open quite late on Monday so if you're not up to a stroll you can enjoy a bistro-style 3 course menu there for about 35 euros. We only had salad (and champagne!) but I'm interested in trying the menu also someday! The spa closes quite early: on Mondays at 7pm and other days on 8pm. They have an age limit, so this pool and saunas aren't suitable for families with little children, but it was very nice and peaceful place for adults to enjoy. So points for that! The room we had was spacious with two 140cm beds and tidy bathroom. It's what you'd expect from a hotel like this and also the were some nice touches, like the Soda stream on a cupboard and a couple of classic books on a shelf. For me the best part had to be the breakfast. It isn't too large in choices of food but everything was carefully thought and well-prepared. Beverages were served to the table and I could find everything I want to eat on a hotel breakfast: omelettes, fresh orange juice, charcuteries, fresh vegetables, over night simmered oat porridge and something for my sweet tooth. The brownie was amazing and also the white bread tasted very good. Again the service was very nice and we didn't have to wait for too long, as they booked a table for us at the time we wanted to go for a breakfast. This is one of the most expensive hotels in Helsinki. However, I feel that compared to many other hotels in Helsinki, St. George is a good value for money both in facilities and service. Will come again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Perfect place to stay in Helsinki

Nov 28th, 2020

We loved this hotel. It’s modern and stylish, with Scandi design, and has everything you could need for a city break: a comfy bed, with the sort of sheets you wish you had at home, a huge bath, a central location, a trendy cafe with unbelievably yummy baked goods for breakfast, and a spa with an indoor pool, sauna and steam room. It was perfection. The staff were very helpful and had good recommendations for dinner nearby (like Juuri which is really brilliant). We didn’t love Helsinki but we did love this hotel and wish we could replicate it in other cities! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Staycation in a room with a view

Nov 16th, 2020

Checking in to reasonably newly opened St. George was smooth and welcoming. This 5* hotel is more trendy that its traditional sister hotel Kämp: instead of crystal chandeliers and stiff upper lip service you'll find modern art and casual atmosphere. Our visit was crowned by Atelier room with a balcony (#702): fantastic "Parisian roof view" over downtown Helsinki. Also the large marbled bathroom truly exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was included to the room rate; very busy but met all our needs (fresh orange juice was very tasty). Maybe only nuisance was access to the spa: probably Covid-19 pandemic caused a strict scheduling there, so we only had a few minutes time to enjoy the sauna and pool. Very warm recommendation if you want to stay in the middle of Helsinki, with style! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good, but not great

Nov 2nd, 2020

Stayed for one night. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, the hotel itself is very stylish and the location is excellent. However, in our room some of the fixtures had come loose, towels were missing etc. Additionally, the reception was crowded upon arrival - rather than arranging for guests to be seated with refreshments everyone was crowded into a small space to wait for up to 30 min in order to get checked in. Breakfast had good quality but limited selection - at a hotel with this standard you would expect a better menu at the table or the opportunity to order direct from the chef in the kitchen. Much of the selection was running very low before 10 in the morning with the staff seemingly not being able to keep up. It would be an ok setup for a lower-grade hotel but not comparable to international 5* standards. As an overall experience it was ok but at this price level unfortunately i would be inclined to try some of the other alternatives in Helsinki next time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A really outstanding hotel

Oct 30th, 2020

We've stayed in many hotels in Helsinki and this is certainly one of the best. It's expensive of course but deals are available especially in these times of Covid. The hotel is part of a group, includes Lilla Roberts - also excellent and Kämp which used to be reckoned the best hotel in Helsinki. Well try it next time since we have a 5 night stay deal covering all three to be used by March next year. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
