Definitely a one and done

We stayed here overnight as we were attending a concert at the Fox Theater and wanted to be relatively close. Hotel was billed as a 3-star, but I'm not sure how that is even possible. Whole place is in need of a top-bottom cleaning/make-over. Halls were dingy. Carpets were dirty. Paint is chipped/peeling in places. Mattress in our room felt like it hadn't been changed in 20+ years. Literally sunken in the middle - we brought this to the attention of the front desk and got the pat answer "I will pass along to the management." Bathroom door absolutely would not close - so NO PRIVACY for the person in the bathroom. Same with shower door - cannot close fully. The way the shower is set-up, you cannot turn on the water unless you are in there, so prepare to be frozen with the cold water that took forever to turn hot. Also - my massive pet peeve - I DON'T WANT TO SEE THE PREVIOUS GUESTS' HAIR IN THE BATHROOM. THAT IS DISGUSTING! Breakfast bar was in disarray, needed some supervision and also some variety. I am vegan and there was really nothing there for me. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I stayed the hotel during the gem show Valerie’s hospitality was really remarkable . I noticed that she answered every one of with a smiley helpful face during that month. The road was not good but Valerie made us forget about the roughness of the road. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We had the most pleasant stay at Tucson City Center Hotel. Front office staff was very friendly. Kris, Kristina and María were very helpful and accommodating. The rooms were nice and clean. We stayed there during the gem show, which is the busiest time of the year in Tucson, but the staff was still able to manage the over all facility fine. I would highly recommend this facility. Just Doesn't Have It Anymore!

We consider the Hotel Tucson City Center a three-star hotel for a number of reasons. Its age shows and shows badly. Ceilings are stained, carpeting is worn and room décor and fixtures are outdated. Its restaurant rates no better. Outdated décor and fixtures, a menu that is limited and equally outdated and food that is certainly uninspired. Further, its location is not close to other restaurants or shops. This isolation is striking. There is free WiFi in the rooms, but the signal is weak and intermittent. One the (somewhat) more positive side, service can be rated at four-stars, but is still quite distant from the five-star level. Rooms and bathrooms are clean. The Hotel Tucson City Center is just no longer competitive and we simply cannot recommend it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Almost as classy as the pictures...Almost..

The Hotel grounds are beautiful and you would think the amenities would be too, but yea- the website neglected to mention there was a Very Large gumshoe gong on right in the hotel and on the grounds. I mean - I think that is something you should mention. So I don't know if this brought in a rough looking crowd- or if there is always a rough looking crowd there. Also , it left the staff worn out. I can't say ANY of the staff I met there was energetic and willing to help. As a solo female traveler I did not feel like grabbing a drink at the bar (or something from the limited food menu- greasy) there was exactly safe. The breakfast was in there and it was fine, but that same rough crowd in the morning. I stayed in the Tower section and had a pretty nice room- renovated- though I don't know what hotel would put a lightweight sliding door on the bathroom- I mean I like to be able to relieve myself with a bit of discretion- like a Closed door- so that the person that's also in the room doesn't hear EVERYTHING. So much promise there- hope the new hotel owners can push it into a classier direction- the bones are there. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
