Real get a way

From the moment you walk in you are treated special - walking distance to town and all restaurants - no car required - perfect - one compliant - the roof top bar - the person in charge is not friendly at all - overall very nice stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A little disappointed like the Room

I open the door and almost fell over the bed , my closet at home was bigger.. I was so disappointed! I also though it was terrible they charged you for parking ... even after spending a lot for the room .. I was planning to spend a few nights but couldn’t wait to leave .. it was clean but not for me TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Less than average at above average pricing.

Anniversary getaway weekend. Disappointed in accommodations and service. The bad: didn’t appear to be extra Covid clean, red stain (blood? nail polish?) on floor, rusty and calcium covered bath fixtures, dirty looking (mold?) ceiling, Squeaky beds, rocking toilet, small bathroom, squeaky floors, loud neighbors, terrible service at restaurant, dog-friendly=gross and noisy. Plus due to renovations, no pool, no spa. The good: manager promptly fixed service issue at restaurant, free coffee, rooftop bar, the food, the charm of the building, the location, the bikes. Note, this is not an inexpensive place. We stayed two nights and paid over $700. Pics speak for themselves. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not luxury, not 4 stars / Overpriced

We were excited about our stay but we ended up being really disappointed with the hotel and their services. Hotel's location might have been the only good thing about it. I've been in historic hotels before and despite being old those are well kept, this was not the case this time. Hotel Viking totally fails at providing the "luxury" it promises. The furniture is old, stained (paint and watermarks), windowsills are broken, air conditioning broke down because it overheats. I've never complained personally about a mattress but this was the first time in my life that I've felt that the bed was uncomfortable and woke up with backaches the next morning. The hotel charged us a "resort fee" although their pool / fitness areas were closed for renovation but that was not announced prior to booking hotel (which makes a difference when you have a toddler in a hotel room and it's a rainy day outside). Their service was also extremely poor, for example their lunch / dinner times are very limited (don't think you can have anything to eat in the hotel after 2:30 PM for lunch or 9:30 for dinner) and we called the front desk multiple times and no one picked up. In addition, I provided them with feedback (as they requested) explaining my disappointment about the pool / fitness areas being closed and their lack of communication about it but they ignored me once they got my response. Hotel Viking is neither a 4 star or a luxury hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor service

This hotel is in a wonderful location. Easy walk to the downtown wharf area. Unfortunately, their customer service was nonexistent. The front desk struggled to answer any questions or offer any assistance. There was no maid service. We requested they clean our room and they showed up at 10:00pm and woke us up. We were so excited to sit on the rooftop bar and they were not open till the last night of our stay. You can’t sit on any couches unless you have a big party. This was a couples trip for us so it was just the two of us. I mostly only saw other couples there so the couches remained empty. Overall the service was not up to par and the hotel needs new management. The only friendly and helpful staff were the parking valets. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
