Excellent accommodations and you can’t beat the location

Feb 19th, 2020

The hotel is located against (or even within) the Valley of the Temples. The rooms are very comfortable and we had one with a large terrace that looked onto the most grand and well preserved temple. The park itself is awesome and to be able to see the temples from a terrace with a bottle of wine after the sun goes down was magical. All the staff we dealt with were friendly, efficient and accommodating. Among the many comforts of the room was a bathroom with the best shower we had over our two week trip through Sicily. Elegant hotel in a fabulous location....

This is a lovely property in a great proximity when you visit the Valley of the Temples. The staff are professional and attentive, the restaurant is very good, the decor is well kept and the room we had, with a small terrace overlooking the Temple of Concordia was excellent - I think it was the Presidential Suite.... If you are in the area I'd say it's the only place to stay!! Enjoy if you do.... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Elegant comfort

Jan 23rd, 2020

Our stay at Villa Athena was lovely, and mostly, only good things could be said. We stayed for one night in late-June. Room: We had a deluxe room boasting a pleasant and large balcony with views overlooking the valley of the Temples. The room was simple, but elegant and well appointed. Hotel grounds/pool: The hotel has a pleasant and sophisticated ambience, with a pleasant Mediterranean garden and refreshing pool. The view from the pool deck is wonderful. If you don’t book a temple view room, I highly recommend some time by the pool to enjoy it. Access to the temples from the hotel’s gate was a wonderful novelty- approaching the magnificent temples on foot from the olive fields around the hotel was really very special. Restaurant: For lunch, La Terrazza degli Dei was lovely. Service was attentive and unobtrusively helpful, and the pasta quite wonderful. I was surprised that it was not busier at lunch time (I suspect a matter of cost- the prices are fair, but not insubstantial). A separate poolside menu was available, with more traditional hotel style food (burgers, sandwiches, salads). The stay was truly very good, but there were a few small imperfections. 1. Service at the pool was haphazard and slightly unprofessional in our experience. This was in contrast to the general service standard in the hotel and restaurant, which were excellent. 2. Although not the hotels fault, the Temple of Concordia was not lit during our stay due to the set up for a Dolce and Gabbana fashion show that occurred a few later. 3. We ordered room service for dinner. The octopus ragout was very unpleasant to me, and almost inedible. The hotel dealt with this issue magnificently- exchanging the dish for a risotto at no cost and very promptly. 4. There was a wedding the evening of our stay, which closed off the gardens of the hotel to guests. I imagine this is not uncommon. Sound from the wedding was not excessively load, and our room was well insulated (indeed, it was quite romantic sitting on our balcony listening to the musicians). 5. I found it surprising that breakfast is served in a small function type space over the road from the main villa, and with absolutely not view. For guests staying who did not have a temple view room, there would be limited opportunity to admire the view given that the garden was inaccessible for pre-dinner drinks the evening we stayed (drinks were available in the villa’s atrium), and the breakfast is served in this location. Stunning views and location, kind, wonderful staff!!

Jan 15th, 2020

I was fortunate enough to visit this hotel with my parents and husband in October. First of all, the view is overwhelming with the breathtaking Valley of the Temples right behind you. The grounds and pool are beautiful, the rooms lovely and comfortable and the staff so attentive, professional and sweet. My mother, a musician, was enchanted with a pianist in the restaurant and he kindly accommodated her requests, making her night, and when he was unfamiliar with a song the waiters looked it up on YouTube. When we accidentally left my father at the table as he had not yet finished his espresso, the waiters sat down with him for a minute so he wouldn't feel lonely. We really appreciated these above-and-beyond kind gestures and combined with the truly stunning location would highly recommend this hotel. It was one of the great highlights of our trip.
