Wonderful Location, Staff and Amazing Food.

We visited Hotel Villa Athena for two nights on a tour of Sicily in July 2020. The customer service was superb. The reception staff and bar/restaurant staff all spoke excellent English and could not do enough to help us. As we were visiting during the pandemic they all wore masks and hand sanitizer was readily available. The room was very clean and comfortable - modern but sympathetic in decor. The grounds/pool area were well maintained. The view was magical. You could see the Temple of Concordia from the pool, bar, breakfast area and restaurant. Lit up at night, it was captivating. The food was delicious. We visited for our wedding anniversary and had a real fine dining experience with live piano music. Very romantic. We appreciated the complimentary bubbly from the hotel too! If this type of dining is not to your taste there is a light/snack menu available from the bar also. The temples are a short walk away and can be accessed at reduced cost direct from the hotel grounds. It is also a great location for visiting the staircase of the turks (about a 20 minute drive away). Agrigento itself is not the prettiest town but you cannot see it at all from the hotel. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and would absolutely recommend Villa Athena to fellow travelers. It is deserving of its 5 stars! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Really, I don’t have the words to describe this unique location. We were very kindly upgraded to a deluxe room and the view from the balcony, overlooking the Concordia temple in all its glory, swept us away. If you are into archeology, this is a close as you can get to history. They even have a private entrance to the valle dei templi and we could go in at night, watching the sunset and then the stars over the beautifully lit temples whilst casually strolling around without the crowds and the heat during daytime. The hotel itself is beautiful too, wonderful pool and garden area. Kind staff. Pool bar/restaurantmenu is on the steep end price wise, but we filled up on the excellent breakfast. We booked an extra night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
A 5 star hotel situated within the Archeological Park of the Valley of the Temples!
Apr 29th, 2020
The hotel is located only 200 metres away from the Temple of Concordia, a true masterpiece of Doric art dating back to the 5th century B.C. The residence itself is dated to the end of the 18th Century, and it’s beautiful grand designs will leave you in awe. Villa Athena is a place which transcends time and space, where nature art and beauty have been merging together for over 2,500 years in the presence of the gods. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

4 night break from wet Brexit Britain - looking for inspiration from the Valley of the Temples !
Mar 9th, 2020
My wife and I flew into Catania from a wet London in early March 2020, and drove the 2 hours or so down to Agrigento arriving at twilight to the oasis that is Villa Athena. We had a super 4 nights there which included a sumptuous 3-course 'Grillo'-lubricated meal on our first evening; a traipse down the coast experiencing authentic Sicily; a private guided tour of the Temples; walking and exploring the old town of Agrigento; enjoying local seafood restaurants; and, a relaxing massage on our last evening before returning to London. The Hotel is situated in the Valley of the Temples (a UNESCO site) and you can enjoy your lunch or sup your evening glass of Grillo (local white wine), looking with amazement at the perfection that is Temple Concordia, built according to the 'golden ratio' of perfect proportion in 500BC. Our guided tour undertaken on a glorious clear blue sky morning was just awe inspiring made all the more enjoyable by the passion and knowledge of Guido our private guide. Tours of the Temples Juno, Concordia and Hercules were complemented by a visit later in the week to the impressive museum situated 600m from the hotel. The hotel itself was stylish, comfortable and quiet and was absolutely what we were looking for. Helpful and friendly staff, including Giuseppe in the bar, and an impressive restaurant menu with an abundance of local specialities available for breakfast through to supper. But the location is the big plus. You feel the sense of history all around you - in that respect our visit did inspire us, and we returned home with a renewed positivity. We will return !
