Good value for the area, but needs work in the details

Beautiful exterior, well appointed reception area, friendly first encounters and beautiful patio, but rooms need some work. We were booked for a shared bathroom and told via email a week before that an early check-in was not possible, but upon arrival were greeted warmly and our bags were held until we could indeed check in early when a room was cleaned for us. This was a nice surprise, plus it had a private bathroom which we hadn't booked! Policies were explained well at check-in and receptionist was very nice. Room we stayed in was a nice size with a smaller side kitchen room and a private attached bathroom. The finer points including holes/tears in the shower curtain, dark red splatter dots (fly poops or blood drops) above bathroom mirror, 6 inch paint gaps and nail holes in wall near AC from different size machine replacements, and obvious missing handle pulls on nightstands were strange and a bit unsettling, but otherwise the room and bed was comfortable, and easy to get around the rest of the city. We also had a repeated issue with our key cards to our room not working (room H) and had to get assistance from the front desk more than once who said her colleague also had issues with that room and indicated "maintenance was going to be working on it". Given the known issue, would have been more convenient to be placed in a different room without key card issues, but c'est la vie. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I went here with my husband and my 1 year old. I got a room with a shared bathroom. So my complaints would be that the room was extremely small. We weren’t able to stay because it was just so small and we didn’t really have room to do anything. The restaurants surrounding were more hipstery rather than true Italian feel. None of it was what we expected honestly and it was over priced BUT The staff was very responsible, clean, accommodating. It was really nice. It was very cozy if we had a bigger room. I think we should have just gotten a different room Anyways, i loved the style, close to everything, parking kind of sucks but since no one is really out we were able to find parking pretty quickly. I appreciated the experience. My husband not so much, but he’s not really an adventurous type of person. I love the style, I’ve stayed in hostels before, I love the feeling of a respectful community of strangers. Idk. So it wasn’t what we expected ( larger room larger tv) but maybe it was just for the wrong occasion. Just wasn’t worth the price for us, and I honestly don’t see myself going back but maybe if I was single and like 23 I would. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Extremely clean, safe, reasonably priced hotel

FOUND Hotel San Diego was honestly, a breathe of fresh air. Its conveniently located on a main street in Little Italy, well within walking distance (and definitely scooter distance) to beautiful restaurants, live street performers, and the main San Diego Waterfront Area. What I valued most about FOUND is that they are adhering SO strictly to COVID guidelines, there was cleaning crew around the clock, they don't allow patrons to remove their mask at ANY time outside their rooms and there are multiple bathrooms so only a few rooms are assigned to each one. The wifi was fast and reliable (this was huge for me) and there was a free water cooler downstairs, and a kitchen so you can make your own meals. The room had a fan and AC which was nice because there was a lot of street noise with windows open, but thats what happens if you want to be in walking distance of stuff. Honestly the perfect hotel. Nice room with free breakfast

Mar 13th, 2020

The room is nice and clean. It is close to Little Italy and train station. I can walk to San Diego Zoo from the hotel. Meats were not in the breakfast at the hotel. There were just bread, bagel, milk, yogurt, coffee, tea, and juice. However the breakfast was good enough. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
