Stay With Work

Jul 16th, 2020

The Grand Hotel Wiesler is a refreshing shabby chic styled hotel right in the centre of Graz. My trip was due to work and was great to see the hotel had put in precautions for the COVID Pandemic. There were masks available at reception, hand sanitizers dotted around and informative posters up. I stayed on floor 4 and was pleasantly surprised by the space of the room and its amenities. The bed was extremely comfortable which felt like a memory foam mattress topper and for the 21 nights I stayed I slept perfectly every single night. My only slight quibble was the bed was made of two beds together so I often found myself fallen down the middle of the beds in the morning which was fun ha-ha! The standard of the decor in the rooms was fabulous and I found the binoculars provided was great for people watching out of my large bay windows. The little touches made the room from the candle’s to the homemade fudge there were lots of goodies everywhere. There was no kettle in the room but when I asked at reception one was brought up quickly and I was allowed to keep it for the entirety of my stay which was nice. I would say that iron would have been nice in the room too but I'm sure one would have been provided for me at reception. The Wi-Fi was free which was good but the speed was quite poor. It struggled to stream even the lowest quality of videos, but that's possible because there was a large number of us staying for work so the hotel was full. On the whole, though I enjoyed my stay here and Francis the waiter was great and always made us feel welcome at dinner service. The head waiter (Gary? In English) was very friendly but always seemed extremely stressed and flustered and even asking for a drink seemed like it was a massive effort for him. Food standard was pretty good and there was a good range of selections from a variety of continents in the world. I think the chef changed a few times as one of the mornings one of the ‘omelettes’ was two fried eggs with a slice of cheese on (see attached photo) – but other mornings they were perfect! The cleanliness of the hotel was great too, every day my room was cleaned, and bed made. Fresh towels too. The laundry service is great too, I would drop my clothes off to the reception in the morning and when I got back to the hotel in the evening it would be waiting for me freshly laundered on my bed, a great service. I can't wait to make this my preferred hotel of choice in Graz and stay here again soon. This hotel is a MUST if you are planning to come to Graz TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very nice

Very nice hotel in the centre of Graz. Good refurbishment of an old builing into a modern hotel. Amazing view from the windowed pool of the junior suite. Clean and accurate rooms, very nice interior design details. Fabulous breakfast! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Shabby chic hotel with good breakfast

Nov 21st, 2019

Stayed here on business. Room was sensible size, access to shower a bit difficult but plenty of hot water though no tub. Room temperature was difficult to control, turned heating system off because it wouldn’t regulate to the set 19c. I even ended up opening windows to cool it down and this is winter. The main complaint, however, is the lack of an iron in the room of what is a business hotel. Added to that I had to wait 25 mins and call down again for one after asking for one to be sent up. Just do what everyone else does and have one in the room. Breakfast was very good but expensive at 17 euro. Overall a good hotel, a touch pricey but not excessive for the standard. Location is perfect for the city centre and shopping, tourism etc. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice design and excellent treatment

The hotel is old based, but completely redesigned with a mix of modern and old. Room was very wide and quite, shower extremely nice and all furnitures are good. Continental breakfast has a lot of choices covering any taste. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Strongly recommended

The location is fantastic, right on the river and cross the river and you are in the old town and all it has to offer. The hotel its self is great, not highly luxurious but it has everything you need, is very clean and the staff helpful. Only slight negative for me was breakfast is expensive and if your a non meat eater limited, there is a small selection of vegan food but some fish option would be appreciated for 17 euro. Otherwise great hotel I hope to visit again to explore more of this great city TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
