Excellent service, fantastic hotel

May 14th, 2019

The hotel is in an almost perfect location by the canal, 5 minutes from almost everything that you would need to see in Bruges. The staff were polite and attentive, spoke perfect english and were happy to help at all times. Our room was maybe not the best one in the hotel, being on the ground floor and next to the road, but it was large and spacious and had a luxurious bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic, although it cost an extra £25 each. Almost worth the money. The only negative would be that the spa was a little lacklustre, the pool being rather cold and the saunas a bit small. But better than nothing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great small charming boutique hotel. Super easy check-in, wonderful staff, lovely comfortable canal facing room, excellent breakfast and an amazing location. I am never leaving, unless of course Brugge runs out of delicious chocolate. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Ambiance and Comfort

May 7th, 2019

It had been 20 years since I was last in Bruges and it seemed like only days ago. Very little has changed except there are more tourists and lots of selfie sticks. My sister and I stayed two nights with our bicycling group (Backroads). The hotel staff really welcomed us. This hotel is in a great location, right on a canal. It is a historic hotel and it’s amazing what they have done to add the modern conveniences and yet keep the old world ambiance. Our spacious room had two double beds and plenty of room for chairs, table, desk and wardrobe. Two steps up to a modern bathroom with lucite panels letting one view the original brickwork. It was easy to leave a light on in the bathroom in order to see the steps if one had to get up during the night—a small ‘porthole’ window in the door! A separate shower and tub and two sinks made getting ready convenient, though better lighting would have been nice. The room was reached by going down a short set of marble stairs and then up a full flight of stairs (or taking an elevator). There were two large windows overlooking the canal with beautiful drapes that had room-darkening linings. We heard no street noise once it got dark. During the day, the sound of horse drawn carriages were a pleasant background. It’s worth having a drink in the lounge off the lobby to view the gorgeous wallpaper and the cozy fire. The breakfast room is also off the lobby and the buffet choices are delicioius...and include chocolate! It’s just a short walk to the shops and square from the hotel, or explore the quieter streets behind it. There’s a terrace at the back of the hotel for a quiet drink and also an indoor pool. Bruge is lovely in the spring—wisteria, forsythia and spring flowers everywhere. This is a wonderful hotel from which to enjoy this city! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location, great service, over priced.

This is a wonderful hotel. Has great view and the rooms are big and comfortable. The car park cost more than €30 per day which is a bit over priced. The receptionist asked us to pay additional €25 for a cot bed in our room. We’ve never been asked to pay for a cot bed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice friendly hotel. The staff were helpful. There were a few minor irritations such as a faulty shower door but it got fixed quite quickly. They responded to all our requests quickly. It has an excellent location. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
