Ideal small hotel, brilliant location, for Paris tourism

Jul 4th, 2019

This small hotel is a diamond in the rough. Its location is brilliant, short walk to Les Halles or Porte du Pont Neuf, just a couple of blocks in the other direction to the Seine or Louvre. It's surrounded by small markets: produce, prepared foods, and cafes with terrasse seating. Mind that there are 21 stairs per floor: well worthwhile for us, but you should be capable (there is an accessible room on ground level (0)). 24/7 front desk staff could not be more kind and helpful. Rooms on floors 5 & 6 have been renovated. We were in the little apt. 61 perched atop the building: low ceilings, but a beautiful reno with a lovely bath. But I looked into rooms on lower levels pre-reno, and still they look well maintained and clean. We never could have afforded to be in central Paris were it not for Hotel du Pont Neuf, highlight of our vacation. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Just a bed

Jun 6th, 2019

I didn’t book a trip to Paris to sit in a hotel room all day hence the reason I booked Hotel du Pont Neuf. Excellent location, near beautiful restaurants, Louvre, train and river. Has free WiFi. Downsides are: no lift, no fridge, tiny, outdated room, no AC, shabby tiny bathroom and, inexplicably, a stool on wheels in your already tiny room. Near a busy, noisy bar, but we were so tired after walking all day, we hardly noticed it. No breakfast, but there are literally cafes at your doorstep. If you are staying more than a couple of days I would look elsewhere as you get in each other’s way in this room. Also not for old/overweight/injured people as there are 20 steep steps per flight of stairs (we were on the 4th floor). Once we left in the morning we didn’t go back till night due to stair factor. This hotel is strictly for those wanting a bed & shower only in a good location. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Where not to stay in Paris

Oct 18th, 2018

I stayed in this place for 1 night. I can only thank my lucky stars that I was only there for one night. The place is filthy and dates back to the 1940s. I was on the 4th floor, climbing up narrow creaking stairs with worn out carpet. On entering the room there was a horrible smell. There is no way I would use the shower there as there was pipes exposed and it just looked terrible. I can honestly say it was the worst place I ever stayed. Do not order breakfast there. I ran out the door @ 7am the following morning. The walls were also paper thin. The only thing good was the location to the train station at Les Halles. I paid €89.88 Euro and slept at most 2 hours. Stay away.!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Horrible hotel, great location, friendly woman at the desk.

This old, cramped hotel is terrible. Don’t stay here. The night man smokes in the lobby and cramped basement breakfast room, and the stench of it fills the stairs. The blankets are old and have holes, the furniture is nasty. The bathroom is out of the 80s with a shower so small you can’t bend down to touch your feet. *The shower is so small* you will bump into the old faucet changing the temperture and scalding yourself. The showerhead will fall down unexpectedly and frighten you. The space to enter the bathroom is so tight, you will bash your upper thigh into the toilet paper cover which is metal and sharp, leaving you with a stab wound-bruise combo. You can smell the sewer and more cigarette smoke in the bathroom at all times. You will need to keep the window open so you can breathe, and will be kept up by restaurant diners and people at street level. Bring earplugs to a different hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Horribel rooms

Jul 20th, 2018

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The rooms have no TV, refridgerator or safe. The most disapointing thing with the room is the bathroom, wich is too small. On the positive side, the staff was very helpfull and polite. And the location is very central. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
