Service at Hyatt house

Mar 19th, 2020

In my previous review about the amazing service we received from Lynn Woods team, I failed to mention Daniela our outstanding server at the rooftop bar. As always, she was a fantastic part of my Hyatt House experience. Thanks Daniela. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We paid in full for our stay from 7th - 14th April and we cannot go due to travel ban

Mar 19th, 2020

We booked accomodation in full for the sum of $4,082.63 from 7th - 14th April 2020. As you are aware we are not able to travel as the UK Foreign office advises against it and the U.S government has a travel ban in place. You are allowing to cancel our booking for free, but not allowing us to modify or cancel our booking without losing what we paid in full. This trip was my 50th Birthday celebration. You are insured for losses like this. How can you not refund our booking in light of the current situation? TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointing stay

Mar 2nd, 2020

Pros: -Rooms were modern and clean -The included breakfast was excellent Cons: -Poor service and major room issues (see below) -We had a very uncomfortable and inconvenient stay: I checked into the room and we noticed it was pretty cold (stayed at the end of February, after all); figured it was just because the heater wasn't on for a while. We left to meet out with friends and when we came back late at night it was still cold. I called the front desk and a maintenance person came to reset the heater. Gave it a little while, but that did NOT solve the problem. It was still just COLD. Eventually they moved us to a different room--in the middle of the night. The new room was on a lower floor (not the "View" room that I paid extra for!) but at least had working heat. -Things seemed ok until the next morning when we realized we had NO hot water in the room that they moved us to at all. We were checking out that day and DIDN'T even get to take a NORMAL SHOWER before leaving -When I brought up the problems we had to deal with to the front desk, they first guessed that it was because there were a number of people using the shower in the business. This is total BS. The previous room didn't have issues, we let it run to make sure, etc. So this was an ignorant, unsatisfactory answer, especially since the person implied it must have been our fault for not waiting or some nonsense like that. -Then they said there was "nothing they could do" because I booked it through Priceline--again, as if the hotel's problems are somehow OUR fault and not theirs -The same front desk person at least said she'd take my phone number & e-mail and that the General Manager would contact me to let me know how they could make up for these problems. Well, it's been a couple days--and I haven't heard a peep Other/last thoughts: -This is a newly built, supposedly very modern hotel! How are such basic problems so prevalent?? -A huge number of people book through sites like Priceline/Booking/etc.--don't act like it's my fault I can't get reimbursed. The hotel is still making most of the money I paid and it's the hotel with the problems!! -Finally, there are countless other good hotels in New York--spend your time and money elsewhere -I was excited to stay here, but it was really disappointing There are countless other hotels in New York. Excellent Stay

Mar 2nd, 2020

I stayed here for 11 nights and had a great room with kitchenette which was extremely useful. The staff was very helpful, the full, hot breakfast (FREE!) is excellent and the location in Chelsea is close to subways, shopping and restaurants. I highly reccommend this hotel! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hyatt House NY/Chelsea

Feb 25th, 2020

I have stayed at 3 different Hyatt Hotels in NYC over the years - The Hyatt Centric Times Square, Gild Hall - A Thompson Hotel (owned by Hyatt), and Hyatt House NY/Chelsea. I enjoyed my stay at all of these hotels for different reasons. Hyatt House NY/Chelsea was, in my opinion, in the best location of all of those three I have stayed in. I love the Chelsea neighborhood as it is close to many of the establishments I like to frequent but, unlike The Hyatt Centric Times Square, is not located so close to the overly populated touristy areas. HH Chelsea is conveniently located close to the Metro so it is also very easy to get to other areas that are not within walking distance. Our flight was very early on the day that we arrived and, though I had requested early check-in, our room was available by a little after 9AM which was SO convenient! This rarely happens that a room is ready and available for that early of a check-in. The staff at the front desk was so friendly each time we left and returned to the hotel which really made us feel welcomed. Rooms are a bit small but that is typical in NY when you pay for a basic room. Though small it was still large enough for what we needed. Our room was located on the 8th floor and was street facing which I actually enjoyed (I am always disappointed when I open the curtains to find that my view is of the top of another building or a wall), however, if you are a light sleeper or if you are traveling with smaller children - rooms on the lower floors that are street facing will be a bit noisy until about 1:30AM. All that to say - I will definitely return to this hotel for our next trip to the city! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
