Good Airport Hotel

Jun 28th, 2020

Stay Report - 6/26 - 6/27 Location: The hotel is located on Duval Road just south of Yankee Clipper about 1.5 miles from JAX.  Do note that these roads have recently been reconstructed so Waze and Google get confused about what turns you can make (you can't turn left onto Yankee Clipper anymore, Waze thinks you can).  The hotel is also very easy to miss as there is no exterior signage from the road.  Nearby are a gas station and some fast food places and a few miles away is a large mall. Hotel: The hotel is an older HP but at least it was constructed as one and not an Amerisuites.  The parking lot is a bit on the small side as is the lobby.  There's very limited space for anyone who wants to sit and eat.  There is also a small two computer business center in the lobby though one computer is closed for COVID. Check In: I arrived late and was thanked for being a Discoverist and given my complimentary water.  The agent also apologized he only had a room on the 1st floor though that didn't bother me.   Room: Nice and everything in a good state of repair.  I'm also happy to report soundproofing was not an issue.  My only complaint is due to the design of the shower and the lack of a door the bathroom floods really easily. Breakfast: Currently limited to cereal in individual cups, apples, granola bars and muffins plus coffee.  Something hot would have been nice. Overall a fine stay and a good option near JAX.  TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Only 6 years old, but aging.

Nicely refreshed lobby. Rooms look untouched since it was built in 2014 including routine maintenance and deep cleaning. Mildew smell. Room had a door to the adjoining room, which was rather loud and raucous. One call to the desk settled them down. Set HVAC fan to on for continuous white noise. Due to COVID restrictions, breakfast came in a paper bag. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Night and Day from my visit last year

Apr 15th, 2020

To start, I booked a high floor room that was an extra cost. When we checked in, none of the high floor rooms were available for use. People were limited to only floors 1 - 3. I emailed the assistant manager the same night to get a partial refund and he did not respond. Linen on the pull out sofa were dirty so I had to get new ones from the front desk. The breakfast buffet was canceled for a grab and go bagged bag I am assuming due to the virus. There is no daily housekeeping so the room was not refreshed while we were out. It is understandable that these changes are due to the virus, but none of this is noted on the hotel site while you are booking. We found all this out after check in. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disgrace being a World of Hyatt member

Mar 17th, 2020

As a Globalist with WOH, it is natural for me to choose a Hyatt property whenever I can. So on my way from Amelia Beach to Jacksonville Airport, I chose the Hyatt Place before I fly out the next morning. The whole check-in process was worst than any unrated motel. The female receptionist was not welcoming and unfriendly. Even I am a Globalist for many years, her face indicated she didn't care. No greetings, no smiles and no explaining at all of any entitlements as a globalist until you ask. Only thing she said was "No King so I put you down to the Queen!" No apologies and nothing. Since I was only spending a night, I couldn't be bothered to argue. The room itself is old and unsatisfying. And to my surprise, there is no slippers! I went back down to the lobby and asked the same receptionist for a pair, she simply said "No, we don't have!". In addition, the bathroom itself is a nightmare as it stinks badly (I guess it is from the shower curtain)! For the price I am paying, I would expect something more to be honest! I chose to have dinner in the lobby and luckily the attendant then was more friendlier if not I would have given this property a One Star. As I am also a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, I guess I would have better off staying at the Courtyard by Marriott opposite the Hyatt Place. There are many other hotels nearby and I am sure any one would be a better choice than this. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good stay

Hyatt place has the best breakfast of all the hotels in this category. Where else have you ever had bananas foster compote? The only negative is the room shower. It is impossible to turn on the shower without getting wet. All in all a pleasant experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
