Almost the Best

Mar 10th, 2020

This hotel is very nice. All of the staff were very kind, personable and very helpful. My only criticism: the sheets and pillows. The pillows are puff balls, no support at all. The sheet fabric is stiff, scratchy snd very uncomfortable. The room, an upgraded King, was very nice with a view of the Lake that was quite enjoyable. Except for the bedding issue, would love to come back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent Hotel Attached to Convention Center

Mar 9th, 2020

The Hyatt could not be more convenient when attending a conference here. I booked a Skyline suite to have a quite meeting space and it is the best suite for meetings I have ever had in any city at a very reasonable price. The staff is extremely efficient and very, very responsive. The food at the restaurant and bar was good as well as the snack bar/market. I highly recommend this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great staff and nice location

Mar 8th, 2020

Location is perfect for any activity at McCormick place or wintrust arena. Front desk was great, staff friendly and helpful. Arc bar was very nice again with very personable bartenders who were efficient. Parking is outrageous and even with our park and room rate which included parking our key card did not work to open parking gate so we had to call for help. Overall nice huge clean hotel. The location gets better every year!

Mar 7th, 2020

We have stayed at this hotel every year for several years to work an event at McCormick Place Convention Center. Because the two buildings connect directly to each other, it could not be more convenient, especially when you have materials to haul. The staff are all helpful and friendly. The bellman actually remembered us from our arrival and got a shuttle driver to give us a discount on the trip to the airport, since it was a slower time of day. He also volunteered some lunch suggestions since we had a little time to kill. We also reminisced a bit, since Chicago had been home for us. The room was very comfortable and very clean with plenty of towels and housekeeping replaced all the amenities daily. Because this area of town has grown over the last two years, there is more available with a short outside walk or by taking the connecting sky bridges to the Marriott Marquis, Hiltons, and Wintrust Arena. There is a South Loop Market a five minute walk away, with all the advantages of a small grocery/bodega and a terrific deli. The Hyatt restaurants are ok, but they get very crowded with such a big convention. This year they did add a grab and go breakfast area. The only real downside of our visit was that we were unable to get wifi working in our room. The hotel tried offering solutions and offered to change our room. We opted not to do that and just used data. The worst part of this experience was having the hotel operator connect us to Hyatt tech support. It was a very long call, and in the end I concluded that all the person knew to do was to turn it off and on again, and that my companion and I knew more about tech issues than he did. This is not the fault of the hotel staff, but certainly Hyatt national should find a better solution for such issues. We would not hesitate to stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointing for a lakefront hotel

Mar 7th, 2020

We were there last weekend for the C2E2 convention and wanted to stay here because of it's location to the convention. Admittedly, the hotels in Chicago can be a bit pricey especially when associated with a convention and this one was but I was pretty disappointed in the room for the price we paid. We had a double room on the 28th floor. The view was pretty amazing but the room itself was a bit dated and worn. The beds were VERY hard which is good if you like that kind of thing but the bedding was ridiculous. The sheets were like sleeping between pieces of rubber for some reason. You couldn't turn over without the sheets sticking to you so you were wrestling all night with them. The pillows were HARD so if you go, bring your own. The furniture was all nicked up and scratched and really should be replaced. It looked like it hadn't been updated since the 80's. It was clean though and even though we weren't that far from the elevators, it was pretty quiet. Check in was pretty easy even though there was some confusion over the valet parking which was an extra $54 overnight. The girl at the desk called to check for space and said there was room but the guy outside at the valet desk said there wasn't room but they took our car anyway. I don't know where it went but it worked out after about 10 minutes of back and forth. We got a late check out (2 PM) and since we'd be at the convention past that time, we were able to store out luggage at the bell desk which was really nice. People at the bell desk were very nice and helpful. There are several restaurants within the hotel which was convenient and a coffee shop for in the morning but service was very slow. It's a good hotel for the location because you don't have to go outside to get to McCormick Place but I think it's just a bit overpriced for what you get. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
