Daughter's Wedding

Aug 6th, 2019

The staff were excellent, the venue is tired and badly needs updating. The ballroom at the top of the property is quite spectacular, but getting up to it is another matter! With just 2 elevators working it took guests almost 30 minutes to line up for the ride up to it. The quality of the food was good, but not nearly as good as the tasting prior to the event. I guess that's the price you pay for mass production. I believe the hotel is now closed for a complete renovation, it was time! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Short vacation

This resort is exceptional. Next to lake with boats. I’ve visited this hotel several times and it’s always great. The rooms are clean, pool is big, small shops, inside bar/restaurant and bar by pool. Bus to the beach is provided. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Terrible rooms

Jun 19th, 2019

We stayed here for a post cruise night before our flight back to the UK. The reception and bellmen were very friendly and helpful. There are some on site restaurants but little choice outside due to location unless you have a car (parking about $30 per day)or use a taxi. Whilst the room was clean it was in poor condition and needed a major renovation eg the bathroom door needed a kick to closed it and there was a lot of evidence this had been the method of closure. The door to the room had a temperamental lock which made security a little worrying. The outside area was fithy and had not been swept for a long time. Would not stay here again. Website is very misleading!

Jun 18th, 2019

I stayed at the Pier Sixty-Six Hotel from May 29th - June 1st 2019. The website made the hotel look beautiful but was very surprised when I pulled up. First, self parking is $30 and valet is $35 a day. I had one of the valets offer me a deal to pay him $50 and he would let me come and go through the gates. I instantly smelled a scam so I declined. When I entered the hotel lobby the hotel looked decent but of course they could not find my reservation for close to an hour. All the while I was waiting people were checking in and being asked if they would like a first or second floor room. When I was finally able to check in there was no second floor rooms. The room I was given was on the opposite side of the building. Upon entering the room I found it to be very warm so I tried to turn on the air which didn't work. There were stains on the floor, curtains, bedspread and the refrigerator was broken so water was laying inside. I called the front desk and asked for another room. They took me to another room with comparable stains, a tv that was 25 years old and the air didn't work well either. Finally the last room was adequate not seeing stains and the air worked fairly well. Across the waterway you can see a house being built so you could hear the construction equipment all day. Also, they were putting on the roof so the smell of hot tar was everywhere. The following morning the construction started at 8am sharp so no sleeping in on this vacation. At night there is a beautiful tower all lit up that they show on their website. Unfortunately, the whole tower is closed and the hotel is supposed to close for an extended period for renovations. This was the first time I have been in Ft Lauderdale and after this experience doubt I will go back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
