Great swimming facilities, 10 pools plus waterslides and a man-made beach
Daily resort fee added to room rate
Located in Gainey Ranch (a verdant part of Scottsdale known for its palm trees), the Hyatt Regency exudes a tropical-oasis-meets-Aztec-palace feel. Although guest rooms are spacious and chic – boasting flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations and private patios or balconies – it's the 10 pools and man-made beach that garner the most praise from recent visitors. Numerous and varied, this Hyatt's swim spots cater to visitors of every age: Some have cascading waterfalls, others have fountains, but if you'd rather stay dry, opt for a gondola ride along the waterways. Though it may take some coaxing to lure yourself (or your travel buddies) away from the pool, guests also recommend playing a round of golf at the Gainey Ranch Golf Club, or indulging in a massage at Spa Avania. Then, cap off the day with dinner at one of several on-site eateries. To offset costs, members of the World of Hyatt rewards program can use points for stays here.

Critic Reviews

While staying here, it's easy to imagine that you're relaxing at an ocean-side resort instead of in the desert; shaded by towering palms and with manicured gardens and paths, the property has water everywhere — a large pool area has a beach, a three-story waterslide, waterfalls, and a lagoon.

Contemporary architecture, dramatic landscaping, a water playground with its own beach, a staff that's always ready to assist you, good restaurants, and even gondola rides — it all adds up to a lot of fun at one of the most smoothly run resorts in Arizona.

Beyond the water's edge, there are the expected activities, such as the 27 holes of golf at the Gainey Ranch Golf Club, open only to club members and resort guests.
