Good resort

Jul 23rd, 2020

I'll start by saying it's a nice resort. Nothing really the matter with it. They advertise as having 10 pools. That might be true but it feels more like 2 pools. They have one family pool area that's technically several pools, but it's all in the same place so it feels like one, and then they also have an adult pool. I think the pool at the spa counts as one, and the casitas might have one or two but I don't think those are open to regular hotel guests. So there basically are only two pools. They had upbeat music playing during the day, even at the adult pool--normally I wouldn't mind, but I was planning on reading Fitzgerald and drinking a sophisticated cocktail while working on my golden tan -- the music did not really fit the mood. The service was excellent, drinks were good, food was good. The room was clean. My only complaint, really, is that the property is starting to age a bit. The exterior, especially the aqua painted balconies, are a little dated and the pool area looks a little tired and crusty. It wouldn't really affect the fun for a family's stay at the property (who are looking for affordable amenities), but I was looking for a luxurious getaway, and honestly the aesthetic of the hotel is important to get the full refreshing experience. So all in all, I would go back if the price was right, but I will probably try out other resorts next time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

July 2020 Review

Jul 22nd, 2020

I will start that this is one of our favorite places to stay in Scottsdale. Hands down the hotel and amenities are top notch. But let’s be realistic, people that need to travel at this time are looking what places are doing to keep them safe as well. This is a large resort, so I understand the challenge with restricted operations, stays, covers, etc. These are my personal observations. This last weekend was busier than we expected after seeing how light the weekdays are. - All Pools are open. Not as much cleaning staff as we have seen in the past. Hot Tubs are closed. - Limited drink service around the pool. - Masks are not required at the pool. They did spread the chairs apart, but once you enter the pool zone most people are not masked up coming / going. They should encourage masks if you are walking past people but they will just say there are not required at the pool. - There was an evening wedding party that made their own party in the adult pool. Cooler full of drinks and a large gathering of unmasked people. Made the place their own. - We heard / saw that locals were now “welcome free”. Parking is being waived and locals are walking in and using the facilities. This lead to free beach bag visitors while you are being charged a $40 a day resort fee and paying standard room rates. Sure they are hoping that they are spending money, but there were groups with lots of kids. - Not charging parking for anyone. Appreciate that, but encourages non-paying visitors. - Lobby areas you will see people going through without masks. They have signs up, but not enforcing it if someone it walking through without it. Non-staying guest travel through the areas with / without masks as well. - No live music, which is to be expected. - Limited food outlets offering inside and outside dinning. - Outside patios open, but main traffic patterns have not been redone. Lots of non-mask wearing people walking past you under 6 feet in distance. - Rooms are not necessarily being spread out. You may have someone next door to you even though the place is empty. Housekeeper told our guest it was to limit how far they travel when they clean rooms. - The last thing that set me off was that they are allowing timeshare tours on their property. My guess is that they have an agreement that a local timeshare has access to their facilities. With that, they used our private rooftop to take a family up there and pitch them. Odd we were hearing chairs moving on the rooftop from our living room. Then open the door and a unmasked (plastic shield only) older man and a large family (man, wife and kids) were walking down from our rental private patio area. Think they sanitized our space? These are private rented rooftops and they knew it. Look, if this property said that they were worried about the safety of their visitors they would be checking everyone coming through the door since they limited entrances. They should not be encouraging locals to freely mingle with paying customers in time of a pandemic. If the resort is too big to operate close it or be honest with guests that it’s a free for all once people get inside the grounds. I was highly disappointed in how we saw things and even departed a couple of days early than planned. We love this resort, but in pandemic times they really need to look at what they are doing to protect paying guests versus non-paying guests. Having your employees, or 3rd parties, doing tours in our rental space was a violation of our trust. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Scottsdale Serenity!!

Jul 7th, 2020

My serenity! I made 2 consecutive trips to this hotel and loved each one. The grounds are spectacular. The rooms are typical Hyatt huge and clean. Note: some balconies were shared and kids can easily slide through partial divider and run play on your "private" balcony. Probably not a greeat idea to do a solo, kids free trip during spring break. The Hyatt has a great evening band in the lobby for entertaining. The waterpark pool is a swimming playground for all ages. The tour deskalso has numerous excursions in the surroundting area to take advantage of. I took advantage of Sonoma and Grand Canyon full day tour. The representative at the tour desk wasn't very friendly but I will not fault the hotel for the rudeness because she may be contracted or an employee of the tour company. Aside from that, the service is friendly and the gentlemen at the bike desk are always willing to assist or provide complimentary water. The complimentary bikes for all hotel guests is one of my favorite amenity provided. The other is the the complimentary shuttle service to/from Old Town Scottsdale and downtown Scottsdale, providing ample time to enjoy and explore. The driver is friendly and gives his own personalized tour of the city along the way. The hotel is in the exclusive neighborhood of Gainey Ranch and a quick walk (or bike ride) to a shopping plaza consisting of restaurants, boutique shops, and a Sprouts grocery store. Also, I dined at the Sushi bar which was delicious while listening to the jazz band and watching the sunset in the comfortable lobby overlooking the gorgeous grounds. I highly recommend this property. I would return with the clothes on my back with no hesitation....and would invite you to do the same! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Grounds & Resort

Mar 29th, 2020

I stayed here for a business conference and overall enjoyed my stay. Pros: -Grounds are lovely. They are beautifully maintained. While I didn't use the pool I did sit outside one evening and it was very pleasant. There were a lot of little areas to have a seat and relax outside in the nice Arizona sun! There were also spots in the shade -Everyone I encountered on the staff was friendly and welcoming -I didn't have a car and had some time to kill one day, so I took advantage of the complimentary shuttle to the shops in downtown Scottsdale. This was a really nice perk -Fitness center was nice and well-maintained Cons: -Location was okay. I was able to walk to a shopping area nearby, but it was a bit farther from the action downtown -My room was very nice but at night there was a loud clicking sound that would happen every so often which made it really difficult to sleep. I ended up leaving the TV on low volume the first night and downloaded a white noise app on my phone the second night, so that was pretty annoying. But I am a pretty light sleeper -The hotel was pretty spread out. I felt like it was a long walk to get from the lobby to my room Overall, very nice hotel but I think I would personally opt to stay somewhere closer to the downtown area if I were to return in the future. Beautiful hotel but disappointed in activities

Mar 24th, 2020

While the hotel is beautiful, I would not go back because I was disappointed in several activities. First of all it is much harder to make golf reservations than we expected because the golf course is a private course where members get first priority over guests. Also we thought we could easily go and hit balls and practice our chipping and putting but that requires a $ 30.00 daily fee. Second, the tennis facilities are in poor shape for this level of hotel and not properly maintained. After it rained, the courts were not brushed so they could dry. Third we wanted to go bike riding and at 9:30 am on Sunday morning all bikes were taken. We had been told there were plenty of bikes at the resort. Also we thought the beds were too firm - not the usual comfortable pillow top we like at most hotels. The pool and bar area are very nice but I would probably not go back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
