Hotel: Super clean, great food, nice pools. Pools: Section for sports, a different section for little kids: slides, water games. The section for big pool you can go in like a beach, stairs or at the bar section. Animation : is great. Alot of people participated during our week. They a schedual alot of sports. For evenings: different theme everyday for the evenings and shows. Beach: clean, always chairs available, great waves for boogie bords, sandy, somme rocks, A baie, so much for a 45 minutes walk it’s great, but not for hours. A baie, so for a 45 minutes walk it’s great, but not for hours. Social: You want a place to meat people that is the place. If you want a quiet place during the day, it is the place, too, because the site in pretty big. During evenings, weddings = partying until 23h=11pm on the top of the roof. Food: many restaurants: Mexicaine, French, Steak, Japonese and the buffet. My best meal was surprising the Rib eye steak. Buffet: alot of options and really. Surroundings : safe to leave and walk around, but we had the waves keepings us busy, we didn’t need to leave for excursions and more. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful Resort With Wonderful Staff!!

Jan 24th, 2020

We stayed at Iberostar Playa Mita January 11 to 23, 2020 and absolutely loved it! It is a beautiful resort, well run, environmentally friendly, with fantastic staff and great food! We have lots of good things to say and one or two criticisms as well. We have been doing all-inclusives in Mexico for a dozen years now and, overall, we would highly recommend this resort to couples, families and those who want a fun vacation. If you want 100% peace and quiet 100% of the time, this may not be the resort for you, but I would still suggest you give it a try. Read on, if you want more details. There will be a lot to this review, so just skip to the section you want to know about if you don't want to read the whole novel..... Room Our room (1319) was perfect for the two of us. King bed (very comfortable), walk in shower, mini fridge stocked daily with juice, pop, sparkling water and beer (Dos XX and Indio). They were happy to accommodate our request for diet pop and apple juice. Our maid did a terrific job (gracias!) cleaning the room and there was turn down service every night. The rooms were very nice. Food There are 4 a-la carte restaurants, a breakfast buffet, a lunch buffet, and a dinner buffet. The breakfast and dinner buffets were in the same location, but not open for lunch. The lunch buffet doubled as the steakhouse at night. Buffets The breakfast buffet had a combination of Mexican breakfast foods (YUM!), American/Canadian breakfast foods, egg station, pancake/waffle station, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, cheeses, and 2 bread stations (wow! does that ever make a difference for those of us who have been to all-inclusive resorts before as it keeps the lines down). They never ran out of bacon. Repeat...they never ran out of bacon! I've never seen that before in 12 years! Well cooked as well instead of slimy. And they had the chips n pico/guac out in the morning too. I had coffee and mimosas every morning! Delicious! The lunch buffet had an assortment of Mexican foods (tacos, quesadillas, chips n guac, pico, etc), hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, fish, seafood, loads of veggies, breads, and soup. It was all great. Cervesa and tacos for lunch? Yes, please! The quality of the food was very high. At dinner, the buffet was also of very high quality. Seafood, veggies, awesome Mexican food, along with the burgers, fries and things that kids (and adults, let's be honest) want sometimes. One night we had all you can eat lobster. It was terrific. The hosts/hostesses and serving staff were exceptional. Thank you to Yesy, Jesus and everyone else for taking such good care of us. Yesy and Jesus were so nice to us and made us feel so welcome. They work so hard and are so accommodating. they deserve a mention for sure. A-la Cartes Mexican (El Cuate Pancho) I love Mexican food and this restaurant did not disappoint. Our server, Teresa, was fast and friendly, and the food was great. I had the tortilla soup and the red enchiladas. So good! Japanese The Japanese show cooking restaurant was a real treat. It was a lot of food! But very good food! The show and chef were hugely entertaining. Gourmet (Pacific Express) This is a theme restaurant set in rail cars. In addition to the great surroundings, the food was very high quality. Steakhouse This was one area of the resort where we were disappointed. We each had the ribeye steak and each of us thought it wasn't very good. The service was good, however. Activities/Animation/Entertainment Iberostar Playa Mita had the best animation staff I have ever experienced in 12 years going to all-inclusive resorts in Mexico. They didn't just schedule activities and then run them. They actively went and talked to the guests about what they would like to do and what would make their stay better. Normally, I am a guy who reads by the pool/beach for two weeks. This time I took 2 dancing lessons, and participated in other activities that made my stay more fun....and it felt natural, not pressured. The staff understood if you didn't want to participate, but still asked if they could do anything for you. Amazing! Thank you to Alex, Pepe, Marco, Charly, Chris, Jovani, Marcelo and all the rest. These guys are the best. They came and checked on us every day (even had lunch with us some days) and made sure we had a great time! The shows and entertainment were good as well. I confess, I'm not a big fan of resort shows. But there were several here that were worth seeing. The musicians in the shows and in the lobby bar were outstanding. I saw the best mariachi band I've ever seen in the lobby bar. Service This resort has the best service of any all-inclusive I've ever stayed at. The reception was quick, friendly and helpful. The concierges were next-level. Thank you to Rebeca for taking such good care of us. They went out of their way to help you with anything. There were so many great people like Rosy and Fernando who showed real interest in helping guests. Getting restaurant reservations, cabs or shuttles or even a band aid was easy. We had laundry service done during our stay. It was affordable and done expertly within 24 hours. The pool side towel service was also fantastic. They would come by with a trolley and ask if you wanted a new towel and there was a towel station as well. Gracias Nacho! Pools There is one pool, but it is split between an upper level and a lower level, really two pools. The lower level allows you to watch all the fun that goes on in the upper level with less noise and distraction. There were plenty of pool chairs for guests. Reserving chairs before 9am was not allowed (perhaps, also, not enforced strictly) but after 9 it was fine. It was, in our view, a good system. There was a swim up bar at the upper level and pool side drink service that was very good. There is a splash park and kids club as well. We can't rate those, as we don't have kids. But it kept the kids active and had water slides and lots of activities. There is not a quiet pool or adult-only pool. Usually I look for this, but this year we made do without. Bars The service in the bars was very good. Thank you to Adrian at the pool bar for always being so nice! We played cards in the lobby bar at night and got great service and music. Beach There are miles of beach to walk. The tide can come up very high during certain parts of the month, however, which can restrict how wide the beach is. The staff kept it very clean. Spa/Fitness We didn't make it to the spa, but used the gym several times. In our experience, this was a pretty good resort gym. 3 treadmills, 3 elliptical, free weights and weight machines. I've seen one or two better but many more worse. Environmental Policies This is the first resort we've been to that did not use plastic water bottles. Instead, they used large refillable glass bottles and a 5-stage filtration system with water stations all over the resort, usually 2 on every floor and at the bars and restaurants. Those glass bottles are breakable, as I found out when I accidentally knocked one over and it shattered all over our bathroom. I cut my finger. But the maid, concierges and all the staff were on that like dullness to my tequila soaked brain. Soon the glass was cleaned, my finger was bandaged and our bottle replaced. Bravo! Oh, and there are no plastic straws or disposable plastics used on this resort. A+ Rating I would rate this resort the following way (out of 5) Service 5 Rooms 5 Food 5 Pools 4 Beach 5 Bars 5 Entertainment 5 Animation 5,000,000,000,000!!!!!!!! Pepe!!! We will go back next year for sure. Gracias Iberostar Playa Mita! Anyone who has questions, please feel free to ask. Happy to help fellow sun-lovers. So, until next year, shalalala goodbye! Amazing Relaxation

Jan 23rd, 2020

Just returned to our frozen city from a 7 day visit of warmth, both of the air and the people. Our room was excellent- clean, comfortable, spacious, well appointed with an ocean view every morning and well serviced daily. The food and beverages were of great variety and quality. The Japanese, Mexican, and Gourmet were exceptional...the Japanese was the best we have experienced at any of the Iberostars we have been to, while the Steakhouse was more on the average side. The Buffet was excellent...variety everyday, so a person could do your own focus on a theme everyday, and never get bored with the offerings. Service was quick and always very friendly. The beach was not great for swimming due to the huge (yet beautiful) waves all the time, but it was fantastic for daily long walks. And the sunsets were beautiful! Another highlight was the evening theater shows! We enjoyed every evening especially the Rock show and Circus! The Mexican evening show was also fabulous. The most important part of our vacations we have found is the people that we meet. The staff members that we interacted with were amazing people. Special thanks to Juan Carlos and Esteban in the Star Prestige Roof Top Lounge for their great service and genuine hospitality -they were some of the best people we have encountered at the many Iberostars that we have stayed. They, as well as Mildred, Yahir, Yadira, and the many team members of the Star Prestige Concierge made our stay very memorable and we look forward to returning very soon. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Family vacation

Jan 23rd, 2020

We traveled to Playa Mita for the 1st time Jan. 9-17th We arranged for transportation through Iberostar and they were waiting for us outside the doors to the airport. Our room was a standard room with 2 double beds. The beds in the rooms are very uncomfortable and need replacing. Bathrooms are supplied with body soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The pool was very cold. My husband and kids only got in it once the whole trip. There is a grill behind the pool that serves hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, fruit, and other snack items. There is a buffet open at the restaurant open for lunch. My family and I didn't think the food was as good as other places we have been to. We ate at the Mexican, hibachi, and steakhouse, We were very dissapointed in the food at these. The steak was overcooked and tough at the hibachi the rice was gummy. We spent alot of time in the ocean. The water was warm and waves were fun. My kids learned to boogie board and we were able to see whales playing in the water from the beach and the rooftop lounge. We had massages at the spa. We weren't impressed with these. We booked some excursions with the tour desk in the front. Felipe and his son are amazing to work with. We had family photos done with the onsite photography. The photographer was great to work with and prices are reasonable. Our family had a great vacation here however I am not sure we would return. Nothing terrible just not our vibe. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A great week in the sun with the girls

Jan 23rd, 2020

This is the second time I've been here. Went 5 years ago with a friend, and came back this time with two friends. Stayed in a Junior Suite on the beach. All three of us in the room and had plenty of room, as we had our own patio on the beach. The food here is excellent...don't miss the Pacific Express restaurant! The recreational staff at the pool were great...Marcello gave a great water aerobics class and Marco Polo was always there to help. We didn't see any of the shows so can't report on that. It was a lovely warm week, to relax. Walked the beach in the mornings and swam in the ocean in the afternoons. It is pretty secluded, about a 40 minute bus ride from the Puerto Vallarta airport. Went to the local town one morning for a walk about. The resort is beautiful, the ocean warm, and the service was great. Even the Air Canada rep, Diana, was lovely and helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to return again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
