Great Location, Clean, Tidy & Great Service

Jul 17th, 2019

Clean & tidy in a great location. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room had a safe and was nicely decorated, very relaxing. We also had a balcony that backed on to the back streets with great views of traditional architecture. The pool on the roof (floor 6) looks bigger on the photos than it actually is, Its nice and refreshing however there were limited space available, probably about 8 to 10 beds. Another floor up, (7) is another terrace with bar - this was closed when we were there but great views of the city. Good for couples, or business. Breakfast wasn't included, this is 20 euros per day, per person however if you pay for the duration of your stay up front it reduces to 18 euros per day, per person. We went out for breakfast plenty close by. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A perfectly located luxury hotel

Jul 15th, 2019

We loved our stay at Iberostar Las Letras Gran Via. The hotel is perfectly located to explore Madrid on foot, close to the most important sights, nice restaurants and shops. The hotel is very nicely decorated with very professional and friendly staff. We had a penthouse room with a large deck and jacuzzi. One of the nicest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. Highly recommended. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful hotel but be mindful of your belongings

Jul 14th, 2019

We stayed at this hotel the first night for our family's first visit to the country. The hotel itself is located in strategic location close to many restaurants, shopping centers and banks. We stayed at superior terrace rooms and the view was wonderful overlooking Gran Via. The rooms have beautiful decor and deck with outdoor jacuzzis. The size of the rooms were very spacious and the beds were comfortable. WiFi and breakfast were included in our bookings. Everything about this hotel is great except there's minimal security. For an international city 4-star hotel, there was no security personnel during our stay in the lobby or in the hotel's restaurant area. Our first night there, we had dinner in the hotel's restaurant Gran Clavel wine bar. Within half an hour, there was a panhandler without shoes who entered the restaurant. I'd never encountered this in any other countries before. He asked for change to every single table inside the restaurant. None of the restaurant personnel asked him to leave even though they saw this man. Just to be clear, this is an indoor restaurant in a hotel. The man asked for a change to my mother and while we politely declined, he pickpockecked my mother's cellphone. We reported the incident to the hotel's receptionist and manager. They basically said that these things are common and we should be more careful next time. There were CCTV cameras but they said they couldn't let us see the recordings unless we get permission from the police. We were told that we are welcome to go to the police to make official report but it typically would take hours or a whole day to process. If "these things are common" then logically there should be security personnel/other measurements, in other words, security is not the hotel's priority. We talked to the restaurant manager and we basically also being told "too bad, tough luck". It's a beautiful hotel, but be extra cautious even though it's a world-class hotel. It seems like just about anyone can go in and out. It was not a good introduction to the country. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Las Letras - a beautiful hotel and an "above and beyond" staff

Jul 10th, 2019

I arrived at Las Letras from the airport, having to lug my stuff half a mile from the taxi because Gran Via was closed for Madrid Pride Parade. At the front desk, I realized my backpack was open and my wallet and passport was gone. (!!!!) Thank you soooo much to Ignacio Hernandez Garcia from the front desk - who called over a police officer immediately, helped do the translating, pointed me to the police station to file a police report and then - above and beyond - help me accept a wire transfer which I desperately needed (I had no credit cards, ATM and, without a passport or license, I couldn't accept a wire). I needed that money to apply for an emergency passport when the embassy opened on monday (which I successfully later got). Ignacio walked through the craziness of Pride to pick up the wire for me (we had to go to two locations) and then refused a tip. I'm back in the States now, and I just wanted to say thank you to Ignacio (and to Ursala - who was also super kind and helped figure out how I could pay for the hotel with Amex on the phone.) Very very grateful. The hotel, room, rooftop bar and buffet breakfast were also lovely. :) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good walking area, easy to get to major museums as well as shopping district. Metro stop very near (however under construction at present). Breakfast was delicious. You can have a nice time over drinks. Courteous staff. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
