Visiting family in Fayetteville, Arkansas on my vacation.

The staff of the hotel is Great.check-in hotel was easy and easy access to the hotel restaurant and bar.Our room clean shower bathroom, air conditioner room.the beds are comfortable and the tv had great cable selections... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great For University-Related Visit

Place is very nice and served our needs. Here are our thoughts. The pros: 1. Location Location Location. The Inn is located on the UofA campus so if your visit is university-related, this is where you need to stay. From door to door, it's a 5 to 10 minute walk to the Arkansas Union. We were in Fayetteville for student orientation so convenience of location was the Inn's number one best feature based on our experience. 2. The Inn has been fully renovated and tastefully updated in public areas and has a fascinating history, much of which can be seen in photos lining the hallways. 3. Dining. We ate breakfast on-site and had a great experience both mornings. Good coffee and even though breakfast menu isn't large, I think most reasonable diners would be happy with the selection. 4. To a person, all staff encountered from check-in to check-out were approachable, personable and helpful. We interacted with front desk, wait staff and housekeeping and had a great experience with each. 5. Great bed. It's what a hotel is all about, really. Can't say much more about this other than we felt well-rested each morning. Mattress was just right - not too hard or soft - and very nice pillows too. 6. Parking. Lots of parking with multiple entrances made access very handy. The cons: 1. No HVAC vent in bathroom. Our stay was over a very hot weekend and while the room temperature was properly regulated and we were quite comfortable, the bathroom was hot and stifling in the morning. Not even opening bathroom door cooled it down to level equal to room. We never saw a vent but saw no point in complaining and chalked it up to being a quirk that comes with renovating a 100+ year-old building. Still needs to be pointed out. 2. Room furnishings. Room furnishings were anything but upscale. Very pedestrian and in some cases, just plain cheap. 3. Noise. Each time the elevator door opened on the 3rd floor, the audible and very annoying double ding of the alarm let everyone know - loud and clear. Also, the sound of heavy wooden doors opening and closing is pretty loud and could have been an annoyance were it not for ear plugs. 4.Weird electrical. The outlets on one side of our room only worked when the overhead canned lights were on. The outlet on the other side near windows worked just fine so not a huge deal but it was a bit of an inconvenience not being able to charge iPhone on bedside table on one side of the bed. 5. Price. I totally get the price is a result of the convenience factor but if this hotel was in a different location, I would expect to pay $40 or $50 less per night for this quality room. Again, location is great and probably makes rate what it is but the room itself doesn't justify it. Do cons knock my review down that much? Not really. Would I book again? Absolutely! Wedding weekend

The hotel is old but very pretty and the grounds are beautiful. Never stay on the first floor! It's very loud, the outside lights shine into your window and with the wrap around porch people sit outside talking all night! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellence with history!

I booked a night here as a surprise for my wife on our 5th anniversary and earned some highly valued points. I had originally booked a double queen with the breakfast and romance package. Raymond went above and beyond helping me get it planned with the right bottle of wine. Once it was all said and done I went back to work feeling quite proud of myself for what I had pulled off. Within an hour Raymond called me back about a last minute opening in the Senior State room explaining how much more fitting it would be for our special occasion. I took him at his word and told him go ahead and boy am i glad I did. The room was amazing? Upon arrival I informed the front desk attendant that my wife would arrive shortly with no clue of what was going on and she should merely hand her a room key and parking pass. She played along perfectly and I thank her for that. My wife finally arrives, comes to the room, and upon entering is amazed by the room and the perfectly chilled bottle of wine waiting on her. This all led to a perfect evening and I sincerely appreciate all who helped make it happen. I highly recommend this Inn for anyone who is traveling or just looking for a night away without having to travel far. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I really wanted to love it, but it was a very disappointing experience

I was excited to stay at this historic former residence hall turned upscale hotel. I made a reservation for a room with the breakfast.I was encouraged to do so by the person who took the reservation. When I got there, I was told there would be no 7:00 breakfast just a 11:00 brunch. Since the hotel had not forwarded my name for the brunch--there was no room left. This was the first I had heard about the change. Could they have called or e-mailed me about it? I tried to roll with it and I just asked for a refund of just the breakfast portion from my bill. I was told the people at the desk were not authorized to provide it and that I was responsible for calling the manager Steve Norton on Monday. It was THEIR error and I am told I need to run down the manager and get the refund. I called 12 times on Monday only to get a busy signal each time. I called the main desk at 3:30 and was told he had gone home. After dealing with the issue of no breakfast in the morning, I then decided to go to my room and take a hot bath and relax. I filled the tub, climbed in and then turned on the jets--only to have black sludge come out of the jets...REALLY GROSS, definitely had not been cleaned for a long time. I have pictures of the black globs. A wedding party was at hotel and all the food and bar was set up in the main area that I needed to pass through every time I went to my car to bring in my suitcase, get ice, speak with the desk...so I am crawling over the beautifully dress guests with my jeans on, rolling my suitcase through their gathering--could the hotel have not put me in a room where I was out of the way--very AWKWARD for me and less than desirable for the wedding party who always looked at me--like I was a wedding crasher. The following morning I asked if there was at least coffee in the lobby and was told there was not. I asked the clerk where I could get a cup of coffee and she said she did not know. REALLY??? Most importantly one would think I would receive a call or e-mail of apology from management after such a disappointing visit. I communicated the problems to several clerks and they indicated they would communicate my concerns to management. These issues are ones I would not expect in a budget level hotel--much less in a venue of this nature. I definitely would not return or suggest this hotel to anyone. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
