Ideal for our purpose

May 26th, 2019

On a short trip to San Francisco, travelling with my adult daughter, we wanted accommodation within walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf area. Being a long weekend, tariffs may have increased over the city and the tariff here was reasonable. I have not stayed in this type of “what I would call a motel” for decades, but the lady at checkin was very good as was the room. We booked a twin double which was spacious and clean. The bedding was very comfortable and I loved the pillows which I sunk into. Shower pressure and temperature was excellent. The area was quiet and there were restaurants, shops and a Walgreens a block away. Wifi was mostly good. All in all I would recommend as we had no issues at all. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

great location --fit our needs

The hotel is in a great location and we did not have any issues while staying here. The rooms are old but clean. I thought the free parking was a HUGE plus and the hotel was a good value for the money we paid. We always felt safe in the neighborhood. I would not hesitate in booking this hotel. For the small amount of time spent in the hotel its worth the price. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

You get what you pay for...

The location is ok and overall it is a nice but run down place. Our stay was ok and good value for money. At the prices they charge you can't exactly expect 5 stars or the best place in the world. You have to be realistic! The free parking was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The guy who checked us out recommended a great little place for some breakfast/lunch right on the corner which was super helpful! Thanks. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The WORST - does not deserve any star!

Dec 25th, 2018

I recently booked this place for my family who were visiting SF. Here is the feedback I got: “The Front Desk Clerk assigned in the evening on 12/24/18 was absolutely rude. He gave us the ground floor, argued about the receipt even said that if he knew I was going to give him a hard time about asking receipt he would have just canceled the room. The chair was old with holes, No option of cold water (all hot water) coming out of the faucet, bathtub was filthy. When I requested to change our room, he went with me to the room to see my complaints. Before he left the room, he turned around turn to my son and said “Tell him to fixed the sheets before transferring to another room, I don’t have anyone to do it or I won’t be able to sell this room.” This front desk staff had terrible work ethics and very unprofessional! I reserved the room with my credit card to guarantee the reservation. Protocols for hotels are - payment upon check out and not prior to arrival of the guests . When my family was paying cash for the 2 nights while checking in, the evening front desk clerk assigned said he already charged the card on file for the first night. Again, protocol for all hotels are payment upon check out. So we had to ask him since we are paying cash up front to reverse the charges, to issue credit refund and provide us a credit refund receipt. After this conversation, everything went completely down hill. This place requires a complete make over! Plus the evening front desk need to be reprimanded and re-trained. I am a professional business traveler and have been doling lodging reviews everywhere. In my travel experience I can honestly say this is the worst customer service and dirtiest place we have encountered. I would give this a negative star if there is an option here to save others from bad experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not for kids

Oct 17th, 2018

As previous reviewers mentioned, Inn on Broadway is centrally located and slightly run down but habitable. My 9 year old son and I stayed there over a weekend in October. Having lived in San Francisco, I would consider the location fairly safe. The first night however, we returned to the hotel to see a man walking around the sidewalk area with his pants down around his knees. The second night, our neighbor had a call girl in the adjoining room, and we were treated to his play-by-play commentary of their activities through the flimsy wall. How to explain all this to a 9 year old? Not easy. And I paid over $190 per night for a room given October weekends are peak season. The moral of this story is that parents need to pay well over $250 a night for a hotel room in San Francisco if they want to have a nice vacation with their kids. San Francisco needs better accommodation options for families. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
