Fantastic stay

This was one of my favourite hotel experiences. Staff is top-notch, and the rooms are well-furnished, clean, and spacious. It is well located for visits to the UN and various embassies. It is not in central Geneva, but it is an easy trip into the city. I hope to have the opportunity to return one day. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No Shuttle and Odd stay

I booked this hotel for the last night of our trip. I wanted a hotel near the airport that provided transportation because we had a very early flight the next morning. I searched the HGI website for hotels near the Geneva airport – HGI website, then locations: GVA. Three hotels are listed, by distance from the airport: the Crowne Plaza, the InterContinental, and the Holiday Inn Express. The Crowne Plaza description listed “airport shuttle”, the Holiday Inn Express listed “airport shuttle” , The InterContinental listed “area shuttle”. Tripadvisor under “Property amenities” also continues to list “Airport transportation”. Upon check in, I asked to book the shuttle for 5:00 am, to the airport. I was advised that there was no shuttle. What they would supply was free bus passes that could be used to go anywhere. I advised the front desk that the web site listed a shuttle and that the only reason we booked the hotel was because we had an early morning flight. The response was that the hotel web site does not say they have a shuttle, but we could take the bus. She indicated that she would advise the manager that I said the web site was misleading; But thought that maybe I was thinking of the Crowne Plaza. After going to the room, I checked the HGI website. Maybe I made an error. I did not. I went down to the front desk with my IPad opened to the website. I was told that the manager checked their website and that no shuttle was offered. I showed her the HGI website with the “area shuttle” listing. The response was that she would contact the marketing department, but since it was Saturday, they would not be in until Monday. I asked for them to arrange a taxi for 5:00am. I did not demand anything compensatory and nothing was offered. I later noted that they were partially correct. If you go directly to the Hotel’s website, there was no mention of a shuttle, area or otherwise. If you look at services available, under “other services” it lists: turndown service, private limousine… etc., unfortunately, they chose not to offer us the limousine. Apparently, they were not interested in taking responsibility for HGI corporate’s error. Three weeks later, the HGI website no longer states: "area shuttle". Tripadvisor is still wrong, unless you consider the bus pass as an adequate substitute. The hotel did accommodate our request for a high floor – 17th floor. The king room was adequate size, very clean, and well appointed. The bathroom is tiny. For some reason, it took over 30 mins. for our bags to be delivered. I finally had to call to ask about them. Then came the thunderstorm. The TV went out, but the room lights stayed on. I then discovered that the bathroom had no water. When I called the front desk, I was told that there had been a power outage, and “maybe for safety reasons” the water was turn off. They said they would get back to me. They never did. Eventually, we ventured down to the restaurant for our reservation, hopeful that they had water. Apparently they did. Dinner for two people, with 4 glasses of regional wine, by the glass, totaled about $220.00. Dinner was fine, service staff was excellent, but I would recommend going outside the hotel for food or wine. We had after dinner wine at the bar. When we returned to the room, I turn on the bathroom water and was greeted with brown rusty water. It took awhile running the water, but the water cleared. There was no communication from the hotel. It was necessary to again call the front desk because the TV was still out. When maintenance arrived, he looked at me and stated that it just had to be "rebooted, like a computer". He pressed a button somewhere behind the TV, shrugged and left. The next morning, I went to check out, while my wife went to see if our taxi had arrived. The front desk handed me a copy of the bill. I had to point out that the $220.00 charge for dinner was not on the bill. First, he had to go find the bill; and then had some sort of trouble adjusting the bill on his computer, all while our taxi was waiting. I finally gave up and told him to just email a copy of the final bill and left. Our unplanned and expensive taxi ride to the airport was uneventful. All in all, we had a very Odd experience at this hotel. And no one bothered to even say “Pardon” or “Entschuldigung” [sorry]. We will not be visiting Geneva anytime soon. However, if we do, I see no reason to stay at this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Expected more

While hotel is an attractive property in public areas, we were disappointed with service. Bell staff took took over an hour to delivery luggage, at breakfast, service was under staffed and inattentive and in the lounge-type area outside of The Woods restaurant the table shown below was never cleared. We sat there from 3-5 visiting with friends and from 7-8:30 and the items were still there. No one ever offered us service. Additionally, many breakfast items were depleted and not replaced on a timely basis. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing Place.

Perfect but pricey

5 star treatment by 5 star staff. They ALL went our of their way to help me with directions and dinner recommendations - especially Cyril and Charlie! My corner room was extremely spacious, quiet and easy to access. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
