Great location, mediocre room

Apr 23rd, 2019

The hotel is located in the Central Business District, close enough to walk to the French Quarter but without the crazy crowds. The lobby had inviting couches and chairs. Our issue was with the room itself. The room was extremely dark. There were 5 lamps, all of which had black lampshades. It was fine for sleeping, but difficult for reading, and rather depressing. The advertised balcony faced another building and the room did not receive any daylight. The advertised balcony was accessible by other rooms' balconies with no privacy. For security, the door to the balcony had to remain locked so there was no means of enjoying any fresh air. Even the lighting in the bathroom was dim. Finally, although the room was made up each day, there were bread crumbs on the floor from our first night in the room, and they remained on the floor all three days. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

One Brooklyn ruined it all

Apr 22nd, 2019

I came to New Orleans for the first time and I was thrilled to see what the city had to offer. Upon check in I met two amazing people Kenny and Salman I believe that was his name. They got us an early check In and we were grateful. The first two nights were noisy but that wasn’t the front desk fought it was moreso the connector rooms and walls being paper thin you can here straight threw them. The pipes in the showers were loud and sounded like they would burst at any second. We reported that at check out. All that I could deal with. Nothing compared to the lady I experienced on my last night. Maintenance issues and the way the hotel was made is things beyond the hotel control and I’m sure are fixable but bad attitudes and unfriendly people that I won’t tolerate because that can be removed. Around a little after 11 pm I decided I was hungry so I went to the gift shop for a snack. I’m super friendly and I’m also a manager in DC so it took me by surprise when I walked to the gift shop and said hello to I believe the lady behind the desk name was Brooklyn and she just looked up and didn’t response. Didn’t say hello, how’s ur night, finding everything ok nothing. I was confused. But I let it go, got my items and walked out. She saw me walk out but didn’t ask can she assist or anything. I walked to the front desk and asked how do I pay for my items. Again first time here. The male agent didn’t get his name walked me back over and showed me the kiosk. I asked to use cash and he asked Brooklyn did she have her bank and can she assist me. She stated to him “ She can put it on her room or use a credit card in a harsh tone” rolled her eyes like we disturbed her and started back up what she was doing. This made me completely upset. I paid for my items and I went to send this review. People spend a lot of money in this hotel and no one should ever feel like there bothering someone who has a job to do. She was rude, nasty, and made what was a fairly great stay, a horrible end of my stay. If she was my employee she wouldn’t be able to come back until she understands that she is in the customer service business and her attitude should not be aloud period. If I wanted poor service I could’ve stayed elsewhere. Like I tell my employees if you don’t like/ love what you do, don’t do it period. She needs to be addressed. Thanks in advance! Dirty and unpleasant

Apr 22nd, 2019

I stayed here in March for a conference. My original room was so terrible I asked to be moved. Second room was no better. Cleanliness: Stains on wallpaper in bathroom in both rooms (photo shows only some). Apparently, wrong kind of wallpaper for a bathroom. Second room also had stains on carpet. Maintenance: see pictures of shower and rusty door hinge in room. Original TV remote didn't work, was promptly replaced. Toilet in 2nd room didn't flush properly, needed maintenance to come fix. I was out for the day when they came, see below re leaving the room unsecured. 3rd floor public ladies room has phantom flush issue- toilets flush at beginning of the job instead of the end. Women were asking each other how to flush the toilet. Result: coming into stall, many of the toilets still held excrement. Also, at least one of the sink faucets didn't work. Decor: Room is dark. No overhead lighting. Every lamp and sconce has a black shade. Decor looks dated, like Hugh Hefner came from the grave and decorated in 1970s bachelor pad style. Security: Room safe is 6 feet off the floor; impossible to reach. I was out from 10a.m. to 4:20 one day. I came back to find the room door hadn't been closed by either Housekeeping or Engineering. It was not wide open, but anyone could have walked in. Service: Front desk service was uneven. Avoid Brooklynn. Management tried to be responsive to my issues. It was obvious management does not walk their own hotel. They assured me the room I was moved to was completely clean. It wasn't. Price: I was here on a convention rate, but now I see I might have been able to do about 25% better through a 3rd party booking site. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent

I did not have any problems at all I would call for service I received right away. I did not spend a lot of time at the hotel either because it’s NOLA. Too much too do in the city not enough time. Hotel bar was good too at Happy Hour when you arrive and need a quick drink and appetizer. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location, very nice hotel!

Apr 22nd, 2019

We love the location of this hotel. It's in the perfect spot, walking distance to most anything in the quarter, including activities at the Superdome and Smoothie King Center. Very nice and clean hotel and friendly staff. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
