Not what we expected

Jun 15th, 2019

We had made reservations through a booking site. We were undecided between this hotel and one other one. Both had pools, the other offered breakfast, this was right on St. Charles. We eventually picked this one because of star rating, price, location and in all honesty, the pool. The looks and the clam shells on the site was perfect. The pool was a must have because after a long, cold, Midwest winter, cool, rainy spring and graduation and college prep we wanted to be able to relax in the evenings after driving down and days of sightseeing. Before I made the reservation, I called to ask a few questions. One question I had was a “concierge” level on the website. I was told that the hotel hadn’t had that since a remodel a couple of years ago. Okay, but it is still on website. Who is the web guru? We checked in and the gal who helped me met me at the door. I asked how late the pool was open. It wasn’t. But there were 2 offsite hotels we could go to and it would be open on Saturday (the next day). Who wants to leave after a day of driving and what would be a mid evening supper and go ask another hotel if we can use their pool? The next day we did our sightseeing and got back around 4. Husband said he was heading to the pool and I told him I would be right behind him. He came right back to the room and said it wasn’t open. I called the front desk and asked and they said they had “just been informed that it was closed indefinitely”. Somehow I don’t think that was the case. I called our booking site and let them know what was going on. They called the hotel and then offered me a 24% credit or a 2 night refund but I had to pack and leave the hotel right then. Seriously, less than $100 or leave and have the hassle of finding something else when there could have been a notice on the website and/or told me the truth the day before. So, we stayed because it was late Saturday afternoon. Since our daughter wasn’t 21 she stayed at the hotel and napped. I called the concierge desk because I thought King the bellhop might be close by. He was the best employee in the whole place. The concierge that day was a young man with dark rim glasses and slicked back hair. He walked around like he was all that and more. I asked if King were close by. My answe was “NO”, click. Glad he wanted to help. So went went down and found King. He directed us to a great little local dive bar on Gravier. The bartenders and customers were awesome and welcomed us and even bought us drinks. After dinner my daughter and I went back to the room and my husband went across the street. At 330 in the morning the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate down 12 floors to the back of the hotel, around to the front only to be told to go to our rooms. I will not complain about that because they put our safety first. Sunday we went sightseeing again. Monday I checked out and I figured that was when I would let them know my disappointment. The gal who checked us out was on the far left computer. She did not smile, thank me, or ask how our stay was. Great last impression as I walked out. The gal who checked us in Friday night (on the far right computer), one young man with glasses and a beard and of course the best of all King were the best employees there. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best Hotel in New Orleands

Jun 12th, 2019

Wow, words hardly seem apt to describe the luxurious stay I experienced. From the very accommodating staff to the wonderful rooms, our stay was absolutely perfect. It is in walking distance to all of the main attractions that the French Quarter had to offer. I know the next time I come to New Orleans I will save so much time searching for hotels, because the InterContinental is the only one that I will consider. To the staff and management, thank you for making my trip to New Orleans excellent! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We recently had an excellent stay at the InterContinental and can't recommend it enough! Everything from the check in, to the restaurant, to the extremely comfortable room exceeded expectations and helped make our stay even better. Great location with an easy walk to the French Quarter, and many restaurants near by also. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
