Island Luxury

Feb 24th, 2020

This hotel is a sprawling luxury property. It is extremely well maintained and the room I stayed in was very tasteful and kept very clean The staff are a credit to the brand offering efficient and attentive service. Le Cap Beach Club was my favourite offering a tasty and reasonable menu Complimentary bikes are an added bonus, as well as having an Alamo Car rental in reception TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice - but be warned lots of hidden cost surprises

Feb 23rd, 2020

NOTE: This property is very nice and the food and accommodations are very nice. However be warned that what you book on Travelocity WILL MOST LIKELY BE ONLY A SMALL PORTION OF YOUR OVERALL TRIP COST! When we arrived at the hotel we were informed that our Travelocity (Expedia) booking afforded us a standard basic room in the un-renovated part of the hotel and to get a better room, even with the Intercontinental Ambassador membership, we would have to fork out an additional $100-$200 per night. The food was great but all of it was a-la carte at European prices ($5- $10 per drink, $25 for breakfast etc.) So what started out as a $7300 vacation paid in advance was inflated by an additional $ $5200 for total of $12,500 for 21 days. Not exactly inexpensive. So consider yourself for-warned. Cozumel and the Intercontinental are very nice, but also very costly. I could have gone on an all-inclusive 5 star cruise with Seabourne for less. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Can't wait to go back!

Feb 22nd, 2020

We splurged a little to book this hotel, since it was our wedding anniversary, and it was so worth it! The place is perfectly located on Paradise Reef with beautifully designed facilities, staff that is professional and attentive, and amenities to keep everyone happy. Most noteworthy for us was excellent snorkeling right off the hotel beachfront, along with a fantastic breakfast buffet. I met numerous guests who return year after year, and I hope to be one of them. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful setting

Feb 21st, 2020

We checked into hotel and were offered several upgrades. We took the one that was offered at no cost. The room was spacious and clean. We especially liked the outdoor shower in a garden setting. The patio was very spacious too with more than enough seating. We had some issues with costs and breakfast not being included and the manager resolved them very fairly. All the staff was very friendly and super service oriented. Maintenance was constantly ongoing. The only issue might have been children in the pool where it was clearly marked NOT ALLOWED. The last day of our stay this was enforced. We would definitely recommend the hotel. Most of the guests we talked with were repeat guests who look forward to their annual visits. So so beautiful

Feb 19th, 2020

What a beautiful hotel. The whole place has a culture of rest and relaxation. The beach is beautiful and you share it with a few resident pelicans who never fail to delight. I think I would agree with other people in saying that the food is fine but certainly not the highlight of the resort. Omelettes at breakfast are delicious but I didn’t think the buffet was as great as other people have said. Not anywhere near as good as the Playacar Palace in Playa del Carmen in my opinion. There are 2 Happy Hours of which only one is advertised! 5-6 in the beach restaurant where the cocktails are fantastic and 6-7 in the main restaurant / bar which has almost a 360 view of sea. The atmosphere is romantic as the sun sets and a brilliant guitarist plays your requests. The gin and tonics were also scrummy!! Turn right out of the hotel and walk for about 15 mins ( or take complimentary bikes) to Money Bar beach where the snorkelling is brilliant. The Money Bar Beach Bar does good food and has Happy Hour 5-7. There is entertainment 6-9 over the weekend. Well worth a visit. We went to La Mission in town and had a fun night there with some entertainment and good food. All in all, a beautiful hotel that feels tranquil and relaxed. A little piece of paradise but don’t expect too much of the food or you might be a little disappointed. Oh and I’d like to thank the housekeeper that gave me a different animal from my towels everyday! They were beautiful and I looked forward to seeing what she had created on a daily basis! What a clever lady. I did thank her but didn’t catch her name. We were in room 1504 which was perfect! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
