Excellent location, some small details could be improved

Jul 12th, 2019

We stayed just for one night, but wish we had extended at least another night. The location is great as the Polanco area offers so many restaurants and shopping areas. Also the area is/seems safe and lots of beautiful buildings to look at. A really fast and courteous check-in process. We had booked a room for 2 adults and a child, but for some reason the room was not with an extra bed, so had to ask for a room change for a room that has two queen size beds (who wants to share a bed with your child on holiday?). So some hassle there but not a too big a thing. The room itself a normal sized-room, recently remodeled and everything in order. The rooms with even numbers seem to have a view of the Auditorio Nacional and the Chapultepec Park, so would recommend those for the views. While we were away, some popcorn was brought to the room, which was a nice gesture and a lot appreciated. Decent sleep quality, and a well functioning shower. The handwash basin tap had a water hammer issue, starting to bang if you kept the water running for over 10 seconds. A good way to conserve water, though as no one wants to listen it. The hotel has several restaurants but did not use any of them. We were given free cocktail coupons to be used during our stay, but the bar personnel did not seem to know what can be taken from the cocktail list with the coupons. Well, just wanted a traditional margarita and a mocktail for the SO, and there was no problem for having those. In other Intercontinentals I´ve been to these coupons have been good for any drink on the menu and I find it petty to rule out some specific drinks from the menu (and there was no 1000 dollar whiskies, so no question about that). A really good hotel but attention to some details could be better (providing a room that fits to our party size, and then clearer instructions either to the coupons or then educate the personnel). Would still choose this hotel for next time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Top notch

Jul 2nd, 2019

Being a spire elite for IHG, I’ve traveled to many Intercontinental hotels and this has been the best I’ve been to, maybe not the biggest room but the most luxurious and well designed (I loved the motorized curtains. The staff was great, The presidents club lounge is by far the best I’ve been to, with excellent food, drinks, nice sofas to relax and to work. I wish I had to travel to Mexico more often, I would stay always at this hotel with no doubt. Plus, the location is great, the area has plenty of options for food, from local delicious food to more elaborate and fancy restaurants, also great area for shopping. PS. The view of my room on the 37th floor looking to Chapultepec was amazing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent Upscale Hotel

Jul 2nd, 2019

Very friendly staff, located in the area of Polanco. Within walking distance of amazing restaurants and other attractions in the City. Rooms are very modern with great views of the city or park. Restaurants, shops, café and bar all located in the hotel if needed. Great place to stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice room, good location, but service details lacking for a luxury hotel

Jun 3rd, 2019

The location is excellent to walk around Polanco & the park. Very easy to take Uber around the city from here and is very safe to walk around in day and night. As IHG Platinum Elite members we had high hopes of really loving a lux experience here, but to start off we did not receive our guaranteed upgrade. There weren't really any special details that made our stay standout, and overall it felt like the hotel only went out of their way to serve Ambassador members with a "Club" Also, we needed a room with a tub (as were had our infant with us) but were not offered this and had no idea our room wouldn't have a tub. Small details were lacking with housekeeping, such as the coffee not being replaced each day or the shower cap being thrown away but not replaced. Overall, it felt like this hotel was not intended to serve our needs, but rather for airline employees or ambassador level business men. AC in room worked well and was quite. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Well appointed hotel

May 31st, 2019

Booked in for a three night first time visit to Mexico City . Located on a stretch with three other big chain hotels and about an hours drive depending on traffic . Arrived at around 3.00 PM check in was smooth and one snagged a room on the higher floors . Room size was adequate though one felt the bathroom could have been better planned . Has all the modern conveniences but without frills or lux touches . The hotel has quite a few onsite restaurants but given that the city itself has so many fab dinning options one didn’t do any meal here. We did spend a part of an evening at the bar closest to the lobby which had good selection of drinks , attentive service and a live band . Perhaps the lack of an on-site swimming pool is a miss in an otherwise fairly amenity packed hotel. The hotels pretty close to the anthropological museum which I rate pretty highly but is far from the city Centre so do keep adequate time on hand for the commute. If one can snag a room here for US $135 a night one would have a decent deal on ones hand . TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
