Don't trust valet parking, IHG does not have your back

Valet parking at the InterContinental in St. Paul? Beware. I’m posting this review after being advised by the valet parking company the hotel contracts with that this is the best way to get the hotel and IHG to respond. I was a guest in June and while my vehicle was with the valet, it came back w/ 2 large gouges. I spoke to the valet team that morning, both of us documenting the damage. I was advised to submit a claim to their company. Their email stated I'd get a response within 1-2 days. 19 days later, I had to email them to ask for an update. On 7/26, I got an email that said there was no way they could have caused the damage and were closing the case. At this point, I called the St. Paul InterContinental to ask about the situation. I was sent to an asst. manager’s vmail. No return call from the hotel. So I called IHG corporate and was assigned a case number. I was told someone would reach back out to me for info on how to proceed. I’m writing this 2 weeks after that because no one responded. Today IHG said the issue had to be handled by the local hotel & transferred me to the manager on duty in St. Paul. She never spoke to me & instead handed the phone to the person from the valet company. That's when I was told by the valet company that Intercontinental locally did not want to speak to me about this, even if it meant me providing an honest assessment of my stay. Nearly 2 months later I find myself being ignored by the valet company, the local hotel and IHG corporate. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hotel was great until I left some things in the bathroom when we left. I called the next day to let them know I’d pay to have my hair products ($$) and expensive sunscreen spray shipped, after going through a 3rd party website I got an email saying they didn’t have the items. I then talked to someone in security-as I was directed, and he too told me they didn’t have my things. I had 6 bottles of hair products as well as the sunscreen, that is more than an arm full, nobody turned them in!! Obviously they don’t care if their dishonest employees steal from guests! I gave them my room number and date of our stay, they know who cleaned that room!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We always stay at the InterContinental Riverfront when attending events at the Ordway. The staff is always attentive and friendly. It’s within easy walking distance to many good restaurants and to the Ordway. The rooms are a little small but clean and of course the view of the river is amazing. The bathroom had a great walk in shower too. After the seeing 42nd Street at the Ordway we stopped into the hotel bar for a cocktail. Our bartender made a fantastic dirty martini. A perfect end to our perfect night in Saint Paul. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I was very pleased with my 2 night stay here. The room was well furnished and very clean. The staff, including front desk and restaurant and bar, were friendly and professional. The hotel was perfectly located for my needs, being at an event at the Riverwalk Center. Only negative was that the self parking parking garage could not accommodate my Chevrolet Suburban, so had to go with valet parking. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

One of the top floors, river view and the most comfortable hotel bed ever. Tighter room but nice size bathroom.Genuinely nice staff. Rotary member in lobby with detailed downtown maps. Perfect location to walk to everything: Union Depot,Landmark, Science Museum... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
