Fabulous 50th Anniversary Trip!

Jan 13th, 2020

We wanted a very special oceanside hotel to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Monterey is one of our very favorite spots and this property sits right on Monterey Bay. It's also a few doors down from the wonderful Aquarium. Because it's on Cannery row, shops, dining, and events are all within walking distance. This property is so beautiful and the service is above excellent! Everytime we left and came back, the Staff welcomed us back with a smile, a hello, and asked if we needed anything. Our room was beyond beautiful and comfortable and well-appointed. We were upgraded to a Suite and had 2 fireplaces, 2 bathrooms, a deep soaking tub, a beautiful living room, ocean balcony, Espresso-maker, Binoculars for Ocean viewing, robes, slippers, and on and on! Everything you could want and whatever you may need was handled in a phone call to "Anytime Service". Then, the Dining Room and Bar continued great service, great food, a fantastic Happy Hour, and Live entertainment. We didn't need to go anywhere else, but, hey, there's too much to explore in Monterey to stay put! We truly hated to go! We didn't have time to use the Fitness Room or take advantage of the Spa, but no doubt they would exceed our expectations. Will save that for a return visit~ TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wedding vow renewal

Jan 8th, 2020

My wonderful husband of 45 years decided we should renew our wedding vows for our anniversary. We had met in Monterey and had several military tours there during his career, so returning to "the scene of the crime" was our only choice when deciding on a location. The Clement has always been a favorite hotel so I contacted the sales department. Making arrangements long distance is challenging but Cara made it seem easy. Her recommendations for an officiant, photographer and florist was inspired. The sales and catering staff was outstanding. The front desk personnel from bellman and valet when we arrived to the front desk staff and restaurant personnel made our stay something we'll never forget. The housekeeping staff was awesome and was friendly and helpful. My mother-in-law passed away the week before and Haylie helped plan a breakfast for our family for a memorial at the last minute. I worked in the hospitality industry for forty years and the staff at this hotel are the best I've encountered. I would highly recommend this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Perfect location if you want to minimize the need to drive

Jan 7th, 2020

I wanted to stay somewhere where my child and I could walk everywhere for a short (3 night) visit to Monterey. The Inter Continental was perfect. The room was very comfortable, and the hotel is lovely and has a lot of great seating and lovely surprises like the staircase with the jellyfish lighting. The outdoor areas overlooking the bay are especially lovely. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go in Monterey making for a truly relaxing visit. Highly recommend, especially during non peak seasons. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Hotel with Terrible Staff and Illegal practices (Watch your Credit Card Billing)

Jan 4th, 2020

I had a lovely one night stay at the hotel that I booked on hotwire. I was told that there would be no extra charges, but, as usual, they hold your credit card for any incidentals. So what do the hotel do, but bill me for 1 night stay (even though it is paid for on hotwire). When I received my bill, I called the hotel, who said, oh no that should have been waived, then I was put on hold, the next person said, oh I am not sure, but let's put you on hold, then finally they said, we will call you back. They never called back. Called credit card company, who called them directly (and told them the call is being recorded), we started the conversation regarding hotwire, and the charge, oh we cannot hear you and need to call you back. No, we are on a three way call with credit card company, you cannot call us back because then you would not be recorded. All in all, con artists and scammers, please WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD BILLING. Lovely Hotel, Horrible Bed

Dec 25th, 2019

We stayed one night for a pre-Christmas get-away, checking out Christmas Eve. I have always wanted to stay at The Clement and it was a treat. We enjoyed being center stage on Cannery Row and our room was lovely... except the bed. My side was hard as a rock, and my husband mentioned the next morning his side was spongy... could our king bed have been two twins of different types? The lovely bedding and feather(?) mattress topper didn't improve the uncomfortable mattress, but otherwise we had a wonderful time. Christmas Eve breakfast at the restaurant was yummy and the view can't be beat. I had the pancakes, hubby the flat iron steak and egg chilaquiles. We'll be back regardless of the rock hard, spongy(?) bed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
