The people make the difference

As is the case at all Intercontinental Hotels I've stayed at, it's the people that make it. The front desk, the restaurant (which should be more crowded due to the quality), room service and the Club room staff ... everything was great. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Restaurant is fantastic. Hostess Danay is warm and friendly. German makes a terrific mojito. Cuban sandwich was terrific. Clean rooms and comfortable bedding. Pool is lovely. Business meeting rooms are excellent! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful Miami Hotel!

Everything about this hotel is special, so where to start? Front desk check in was fast and staff were so welcoming and helpful.First room we checked into had a terrible view and they quickly assigned us a better one and met us at the new room with the card keys and a sincere apology. Roberto the bartender is great. The house wine is good and a very generous pour. He also makes an excellent White Russian. We had an outstanding dinner at the hotel with a split caribbean lobster add-on with our steak which was delicious. The hotel offers a breakfast package and you can do the buffet or order anything from the extensive menu. The fresh blueberry pancakes were gourmet fare. The only downside to this experience was that we couldn't stay longer! Thanks to everyone for a memorable night in this great city. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

GREEDY INTERCONTINENTAL DID NOT HONOR MY CONFIRMED RESERVATION

I booked this hotel on 8 January 2020 for my stay 1 to 2 February 2020 via a booking website that was confirmed. Whilst I was on cruise on 27 January, I received an email requesting me to cancel this booking as Intercontinental indicated they charged the wrong rates. It took them almost 20 days to realise this, meanwhile Intercontinental got greedy due to the Superbowl event. Back and forth emails went, I refused to cancel as it is the onus of Intercontinental to find me alternate accommodation should they cancel and with the Superbowl event, all accommodation prices was sky high. They refused to do so. I then had an undertaking from the booking website that they will refund the difference should I book alternate accommodation. Eventually Intercontinental themselves canceled my booking for free of charge as it was non-refundable. My holiday became stressful while I was on the ship and spent time to find another accommodation. Imagine my nightmare when I return home to South Africa, to find that Intercontinental have gone ahead and charged me for the accommodation yet they cancelled, did not honor my reservation nor find me alternate accommodation. The booking website merely referred me to get my refund directly from the hotel. I will never ever book another Intercontinental hotel again. If they can do as they please and cancel bookings without being accountable, I do not want to have anything to do with them . I now must recover my money from them TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The good, the bad, the ugly

Let’s start with the good- Restaurant and room service was good to great. The cocktails were great. Breakfast buffet was abundant but just ok. There was yogurts, cereals, breads, omelette station, as well fresh fruit. The staff was always friendly. The bad- The daily cleaning of your room may or may not happen. First time we can back to the room after being gone from 10 am to 5 pm I just assumed the room would be all set. Nope; knock on the door at 5:15 and I proceed to ask for just towels as we need to get ready for dinner. The second day, I take a different approach and put the “clean my room now” sign on the door. Again come back at 5:30 pm and the room is not cleaned. I ask for towels from the maid down the hall. 3rd day I walk by them and specifically ask for the room to be cleaned ASAP. It was complete upon return and done well. The ugly- The pool area is just plain sad looking. The pool is average at best. There were dishes and drinks left on tables for hours and patrons are allowed to smoke there as well. There is no outdoor service for food or drink. The tables and chairs are in disarray as well. It really could be a pretty area if I th was just a maintained. As you can see below in one of the pictures the menu in the room was disgusting. If someone had just taken one glance they would’ve know to replace it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
